Iginla is over-rated. He had 2 good years... and he is almost 30.

Yes, what did that have anything to do with his decision in Iginla taking the shot on a 2 on 1 on a short-handed rush.

A)
Shoots it... possibly score.
B)
Passes it... possibly score OR gets intercepted leading to a POTENTIAL 5 on 2 rush which may turn into a Russian goal.

Therefore he made a reasonable decision.

Why is Pronger on the pp over Redden? The guy cant make a 5 foot pass.

Nice to see St Louis and Smyth working hard. The rest of the team needs to follow suit.
Redden hasn't done much better this game either. Redden started the game with some PP time, but McCabe took his spot. McCabe has actually looked alot better this game and is getting chances on the PP.

I thought the reffing was a little rough that period.

You cant use the rules as proof on a subjective call like this unless you have evidence that the hit was on the knee. The refs didnt blow it if he hit his thigh did they? You think they hit the knee. OK I get it.

why don't you guys just let it go, no one else cares except you two

now *this* is a hockey game...... wouldnt it be great to see a series between these two teams?? it would be about 1000 times more exciting, too bad the IIHF can't seem to figure this otu

Its time to pick the shoot-out line up for each team:
Russia
The Ovy One
Malkin
Kovelav

LOL @ that Russian defenseman going for a big hit on St. Louis and getting laid out in the process.

Its funnier then you think that Volchenkov outweighs him by almost 50 lbs.

What a game so far.

Nice to see the Russians play physical and occasionally crash the net as well. They really aren't hooking and slashing like they used to. I like the way they're playing, more physical but with a lot of speed and skill.

Canada is playing a good game as well. Our defence is showing good pursuit and is taking the body well. Also, we're blocking a lot of shots which is great. Offensively I'd like to see more generated, but we're getting there.

I can't even discribe how bad Kovalchuk is uncoached. Damn, PP for us and this sucker few times in a row tries to deck and shot instead of entering to the zone and starting our PP play.
Exactly. I'd say, switch him with Sushi. Ovechkin looks good with two other large bodies, Yashin and Kozlov.

Uh yes, Canada is getting completely outplayed.

I'm not sure what kind of game ya watching, considering Canada gave more PPs I don't think it's a complete blowout. Russia had 2-3 very good chances and Canada 1-2 tops. It's a pretty even game.

Not even close. You can't use PPs as a description of the overall play. Show me 5 seconds in this game where Canada was outplayed 5 on 5. You don't get outplayed on a 5 on 4, you get out-manned.

There's more to a game than the shot clock.

Russia has had the edge in overall play, but not by as wide a margin as the shot count indicates. Their PP gets more shots on net, which is obviously a positive, but 5-on-5 it's rather even. Canada just can't take stupid penalties or has to improve their PP.

Exactly what i'm saying...

Man some guys don't know crap about hockey here.

This game is emotionally wearing me down.

I feel drained, and there is still another period or more to go.

What a great game this is what the Olympics is all about. Hopefully, Canada stays out of the sin bin during the third period and that Canada can solve Nabokov.
