Yes but he's not that good of a center. I'd look somewhere else for a 3C
He doesn't have to be "that good" he just needs to be a solid 2-way, hopefully 30-40 pts center, because he just has to provide supportive play as the top-2 lines will do all the heavy lifting for this team. Nash has a chance bounce back, you might be able to get him for Gagner (saving you cap space), seems like the right bet for this team.

I do wonder if because of the 2nd year Holland looks elsewhere.

He seems to want to have a lot of money for next year.

Unless of course he does think Nash is a viable 3C option for a couple years.

Holland seems to have a plan, so who knows. Maybe he's going to see what some of the new additions can do first?

That's possible, but based on his history it's more likely he'll be a mediocre 25 point center and we'll be on the hook for another year of his $2.75M contract. If that is the quality of 3C that we want then we're better off looking for someone on a 1 year deal.

Big no to Nash. I want nothing to do with players that rejected us before.

Thats probably like 200 players in the NHL. Edmonton tops the list of "no go" cities on players NTC lists. At this point, we need to take what we can get lol

I mean, even James Neal was making some comments last year that were shots at Edmonton

I think Nash is better than what he showed last year. CBJ just had too many centers last year.

Jenner, Dubois, Wennberg, Duchene, Dubinsky
Your comment reminded me of this rant-

obviously they had some injury issues at that time and Duchene wasn't traded there yet, but Jenner, Wennberg, Nash, and Dubois were pretty healthy through out the season. I know when I watch Columbus it seems like Wennberg is playing wing more often than not, I'm guessing Dubois while a talented young guy hadn't fully earned Tort's respect/confidence as a center yet, then Nash just played really poorly so was discounted entirely.

I'm not going to advocate for R. Nash, but I too think he is better than he showed last year and I don't hold grudges about him forcing a trade previously, people can mature and I'm not sure how obnoxious our guys were in trying to get him to change his school. My recollection is a bit fuzzy, but I think we were trying to force him into a school with a more respected hockey program, but not necessarily held in as high of regard academically.

He was drafted by Edmonton and refused to sign with us. I wouldn't want a player like that on the team. It's like Reider not wanting to sign here when we drafted him. Good riddance to that loser.

Winnipeg does, but ya, we’re not far behind. I think it was maybe MacKenzie last year that had a list, and we were like the 4th or 5th most common team on no trade lists

While this is certainly the dog days of summer, I do think things will be more active than usual this summer, there are atleast 6 teams that will have to make a move to get rid of some salary, some will be very unexciting straight cap dumps though to a team like Ottawa, but I'm expecting a couple of interesting trades to go down.

An agent just did an interview and said that Edmonton and Winnipeg are the two teams on every no trade list. After that it was Ottawa, Buffalo and Toronto.

That can't be right... every player dreams of playing there and can't wait for their 1st opportunity to bolt there... pajama boy proves that.

(Could be that he had $11,ooo,ooo other reasons as well but people don't mention that).

Can't believe anyone wanted to trade Kass.

Well he was a mess with alcohol and I do believe other substance abuse addictions. He never even played a regular season game with Mtl because he broke his leg in an accident preseason so I guess they didn’t want a player involved with that night owl lifestyle and can’t blame them for that. He came to Edmonton supposedly sobered up and got his head screwed on straight so that’s a good thing for him since his career was on thin ice. He found his game back here and it’s all been good but before that accident he was going down a bad path. Had he brought that attitude and lifestyle here I doubt he would have lasted as well.

Bad taxes, insane fans, media that follows you around in a helicopter when you're trying to have meetings, no playoff success... doesn't surprise me Toronto is on a lot of lists.

Sorry to be that guy. But he rejected the oilers because they tried to convince him to either change unis or go to JR.

I bash a lot of players but in my opinion Nash was in the right. My understanding is that he got his degree from Cornell and that is a respected school.

How often do we hear about players going broke and having nothing to fall back on? Sounds like Nash has a good head on his shoulders.

Oilers should have let him be and signed him when he came out of Uni. But instead right after drafting him they felt they were able to dictate to him what was in the best interest of the club and not his own interests.

Well. He was not going to be dictated to and he told the oilers where to go.

Mact and Lowe were so full of themselves they did a lot if damage.

This board bashes THE OBC club on a daily basis and now we bash a player who stood up to them.

The oilers had 3 first rounders in that draft and they more or less pissed them all away

The best part of Kass was when when him and Maroon were calling Perry "The Worm" and laughing on the bench

It looked like classic Scott Hall/Rick Nash antics

Like I've been saying. Edmonton is the LEAST attractive city in the league. And Winnipeg is the only one close. That's why it's the hardest GM job in the league imo.
