Reminds me of a teacher I had in NAIT.

Go through practice mid-term we can all get it done in two hours. Come exam time most people finished a third of the exam as you had to calculate every number needed for a formula to get the answer.

Other classes their teacher's added 30% to everyone's marks. Our teacher "I'm disappointed you guys couldn't figure this out"

Our teacher was never allowed to make the exams again lol.

LOL your teacher sounds like the true final boss.

My dad told me he had a teacher in University, made the exam open book and let you take the exam home a week early, said you could bring in anything you wanted to write the exam. So my Dad wrote the exam at home and brought it in to copy it onto the exam paper. Copied out 15 pages of the exam he worked a week on and got 70%. LOL.

I'm getting the feeling he got the Petry, show me, contract talks last offseason and... he showed them.
From my memory Petry held out on his first contract with the Oilers. Then when MacT got Schultz Petry was 2nd fiddle and thats what pissed him off along with the lowball offer most likely. But I do remember from the start of his tenure with the Oilers he never was that exicted to be in Edmonton.

Even with the contract being known, I don’t see how his contract makes him a worse hockey player. I’m talking about a players skills being judged separate from his contract. Lots of good athletes have bad contracts, it doesn’t make them worse athletes like you seem to be claiming. Anyways I’ll leave it at that.

Call him a good player then. I don’t necessarily disagree as he does bring the attributes. IMO not enough of the attributes for what the contract will be.

Let's hope those in charge can figure it out because I seemingly cannot lol

Agree...

as I see it, the only solution forward from here is that Kassian is traded with the return being one of those open positions secured (and an ELC taking his 3RW spot).

If we can trade Koskinen and/or LTIR Neal (post covid syndrome?, foot?) then we'd be at $12.5M which would give us a lot more options to fill the 3C, 1RD/2RD, and 1A-G roles.

It's gonna be tough to do (well) entirely by UFA.

Could be worse, I think it was evident by about the 3rd or 4th week of Lucic's contract, that Maroon was actually the better fit with McDavid, lol.
Wouldn't be laughing just yet. You're talking about a 29 year old player with a very small track record of quality production and all of it has come playing with an elite goal-scorer. A poor fit with McDavid could turn this upside down pretty quickly.

Then we get to worry about his natural regression.

If the Heiskanen contract sets any strong precedence, then neither Hamilton nor Nurse should get 8.5. Nurse should max out at 8, maybe Hamilton gets above that because people will be bidding on him.

Does that take into account the money Jamie Oleksiak is sending Heiskanen for the contract he signed with the Kraken?

Remember the air tight "Lucic usually scores 20 goals/year so that will automatically be 30 goals a year easy with McDavid!" logic?

A month into the season and he's already demoted off the McDavid line.

A lot of people dropped his class after mid-term and a lot of people should've failed, but he didn't fail anyone at the end of the day.

He has elite analytics for 4 years running and has shown the ability to play with high end players.. (Marner and Tavares too, not just Matthews). By all accounts every line he was put on improved.

Meh, personally I don't see it as a huge deal. You pretty much have to overpay in free agency unless a player takes a hometown discount, and even then they won't go outrageously low. The contract is too long...yeah probably, but you gotta give the player reassurance and commitment. Who knows what the cap will be in 7-8 years time anyway. He will be very good on the wing with both Drai and Connor.

I'm getting Lucic signing flashbacks.

I don't know if this will be a good contract. Heck, with my Oilers jaded heart, I expect it to blow up in the teams face. However, a major difference between Hyman and Lucic is that two Stanley Cup caliber teams had decided they didn't need Lucic before the signing. Now the Leafs are not the Bruins or Kings but they still wanted to keep Hyman, just couldn't afford him.
