We've got to add some legit toughness especially if Kane leaves since Nurse no longer looks for the rough stuff and quite frankly we have no one else capable if Carrick walks.

Sure. But I don't see Hunter as the guy they are focusing on. If he was I think he would have been signed. There is a lot of work for the new GM to manage. Hunter might be possibility but if he was at the top of the list I suspect they would have made the move already.
I think he may be one of the candidates with the others being on their current NHL teams. If Mark Hunter is their guy, it’s actually a good thing he isn’t on-boarded yet because it shows the Oilers are seeing what else is out there. I’m guessing we will see the process speed up after the drafts as NHL teams will make their AGMs available (teams don’t like their draft secrets go to another team)

Knoblauch doesn’t really deploy a system that is based on toughness as seen these playoffs.

Well we were pretty banged up by the time that we got to the finals. Drai didn't break a rib from a love tap. The Vancouver and Florida series took a lot out of the team physically. I'm not saying that we need to re-invent the wheel, just that we need 2-3 guys that can hit like a truck and drop the gloves to keep other teams on their toes and honest to a degree.

Because he was a complete non factor while here.
Two completely different ice surfaces in Edmonton and Florida.

At home their Dmen do not need to be puck movers as the ice is so bad. They played a boards game or just flip it out into the neutral zone and chase with the forwards.

A Dman needs to move the puck and skate to be successful on Edmonton ice.

Not sure why some think Jeff Skinner would be a good pick up, he's awful defensively and not at all complimentary for the Oiler's centers.

If the Oilers are going bring a defensively suspect powerplay specialist, there are better options out there.
He isn’t awful defensively. Looking at his SF%, HDCF%, GF% are all over 50 on an awful Buffalo team.

I mean, he kinda did. That play happens to guys all playoffs no matter what tough guys they have on their team. Just seems like bad luck in that case.

Otherwise the Oilers injuries were basically Kane (with an injury he had all season) and McDavid (with an injury he had all season).
There was the assault on McDavid by two Vancouver goons. No way that happens with some more toughness in the lineup.

London was a dominant team in the OHL this year. The guys they picked are both players that may well have had a higher profile on other teams but are poised to potentially take a big step next year. Both had solid playoff runs so it might just be that the Oilers were looking for some under the radar talent.
Which is exactly what I said when I said it could be a coincidence...

Sure- but that’s not the way Knob coaches and not the way the Oilers play. Rishaug asked him numerous times about the physicality in the playoffs and Knob said something along the lines that he wants the team to check with their legs and if the hit is there, take it, but don’t chase it. The myth around “tough guys to keep players honest” died a long time ago. Instigator rule took care of that.

Skinner will be interesting to watch because everybody in Buffalo seemed to regress last season. If Tage Thompson doesn't drop 40 points maybe we're not even talking about a buyout right now.

What's "sG"? Looked on his site for a glossary, but I'm not seeing anything.

Well if we did to Hughes what they did to McDavid you don't think the point gets made? It's not all about fighting. Hard clean hits and some not so clean stuff sometimes is needed to keep things from going too far.

Stamkos apparently is a disaster at even strength. Im not so sure about him now, he could play on the PP but do we even need him to? I guess he’d look great on Leon’s wing, but that line might get cratered defensively at times.

For the right price of course I’d just go for it

Yeah, he had less goals and points at 5v5 than Foegele last season haha.

Unless he's taking 100% of RNH's minutes on the PP, he's going to be a waste of money.
