In the regular season there’s times when Kulak is extremely quiet and Vinny is more impactful. Oddly, for whatever reason they had Vinny be the puck mover on that pair most nights.
At the end of the day regular season is fine and dandy but playoffs are where it matters. Vinny is 28 he isn’t going to change much and he can’t handle speed or aggressive systems in the playoffs.

Just like McLeod. They can be good or fine players in the regular season but when the going gets tough they get forced down the lineup and not because others are playing super well.

Janmark is the opposite. He is a guy who looks fine in the regular season but shows up when it matters. We need guys like that.

If you are going to overpay, overpay for a playoff performer.

Skinner was fantastic in the playoffs. Not the reason we lost. Do you expect him to be Shesterkin in his sophomore year for 2.6M AAV?
.901 sv% isn't fantastic anyway you cut it.

He was responsible for the only loss against LA.
He single handily almost cost us the Vancouver series
He was responsible for one of the 2 losses against Dallas
He was responsible for the game 3 loss against Florida
Gave up a backbreaker goal in game 7 in what ended up a 2-1 game.

At best Skinner was below average. Realistically he was arguably the teams weakest link all playoffs long.

Bobrovsky was the runner up guy for the Smythe and had a 0.906.

Maybe someone will take all of our 2024 picks to take Campbell? One can dream, hah. Would let us just not even have to worry about the draft and shift our focus to free agency. We don't have a first but I think the 2nd and the rest of the dud picks are fair. It's not like our management is going to find anyone, anyways

Anyhow, I'd luv to see DeBrusk sign here this summer. Let Fogoele walk(prob wants 4m). Trade McLeod(Sissy boy). Bury Ryan(Lost a few steps). Keep Jani and Brown. Try to retain Rico.

Trade for Kostin

Trade McLeod and Ceci

Nuge McDavid Hyman
DeBrusk Draisaitl Holloway
Kane Henrique Kostin
Janmark ??? Brown

Ekholm Bouchard
Nurse Broberg
Kulak ???
Akey will be knocking!

JEFF SKINNER, I can't say this enough, perfect player for the oilers mix.

Giordano on league min wins edmonton the cup if he replaces Nurse to be honest. Any amount of steady basic D would have saved 3-5 games played.

Vinny at his age and career earnings I fully expect to chase the dollar, it’s the best thing for him.

Saw a poster mention Jeff skinner after a buyout, imo he’s too small and won’t be a factor in the playoffs even if he made it.
Jeff Skinner is a natural goal scorer, he always seems to know where the holes on the goalies are and makes it look easy, that said goal production aside he is a flawed player with holes in his game and I don't think we can have more than one of this player type, but in the Finals we got held to 1 goal or less 3 times and sometimes guys like that just get the odd sneaky goal when the goaltender is looking unbeatable.

If his ask is in the $2.75-$3.5M range he is worthy of a serious discussion, but I'd consider him a cherry on top kind of player, we need to prioritize other issues first.

With prior coaches, it was a systems and a personnel problem. The teams play under Knobloch has me thinking it is now only a personnel issue. Need better depth, Holloway can't be a 2nd line guy.

Toffoli, Arvidsson, Duclair.

Also will reiterate the obvious and say that Nurse and Ceci cannot both be on this team, and neither can be depended upon as anything more than a #5 guy.

He single handily almost cost us the Vancouver series
He was responsible for one of the 2 losses against Dallas

At best Skinner was below average. Realistically he was arguably the teams weakest link all playoffs long.
Other than the Vancouver series, nothing here reinforces any point of him being bad. You point out his responsibility in one loss in Dallas, yet ignore the fact that he was very good in games 5 and 6, and stood on his head in game 7.

If that was your assessment of Skinner then Bobrovsky was an AhL goalie the last half of this series and Florida should walk away from him.

Everything you said regarding Skinner can be said fornthe goalies we faved in the playiffs plus. He was better tha Ottingervand was better than Bobrovsky 4 or 5 of the 7 games

It isn't the cap windfall people think it is.

$1.5 million cap penalty this year, but then you sign a capable back up for $1.5 million as well ... well now you're $3 million out, that's a savings of really only $2 million next season in order and then on top of that a large cap penalty in Draisaitl + Bouchard's extension years which is not ideal.

In this scenario, who knows, maybe a guy like Merzlikins comes in and plays well behind our better D structure and puts up say a .910 or something. If you want then at that point, you can probably trade that player straight up and avoid like six years of cap penalty for no reason.
It's a 1.1 cap penalty this season, they get 3.9m of cap space this offseason in what is their last offseason in a while (until the cap really rises) when they'll have some real flexibility to play with. They need to do what they can to maximize this 1 year Cup window that they have because it's going to get much tougher to fill out a deep enough team the few years thereafter.

Forget Merzlikins, Skinner is the #1 here so Elvis isn't going to get enough starts to up his value enough for his contract to be tradeable and his contract is actually more expensive than Campbell's. It just doesn't make any sense to trade Campbell for a bigger contract, a guy who is a backup.

As for the game 3 loss to Florida he was not responsible. Him and Ceci had parts to blame for 1 of the 4 goals against

You people would complain if we had Shesterkin in net. Yes he struggled to start the series against Van

Sorry but this is complete rubbish and you should know better but this appears to be a case of extreme bias against a player. The guy was 11-0 with a .940 save pct. in Games 4-7 in the playoffs (these are all time legendary numbers) before last night and only let in 2 last night even though, yes, the Reinhart one could have been stopped yet you say "arguably the teams weakest link all playoffs long". Just so completely off the mark and far from reality that it's painful to read, I can't believe that you ACTUALLY believe this.
