The knee jerk reaction of rushing a young player into the top 4 to play 18-20 minutes isn’t always the answer either

Nurse was putting up 35-45 points a year when he was doing those brain farts and playing bad defence.

What other points did we need from him?
They haven’t rushed him. It’s been the opposite actually.

Skinner probably signed here for 1 year for 2 reasons: 1) play on a contender in the playoffs and 2) rack up a ton of goals playing with McDrai to earn a big contract elsewhere. If #2 is more important to him, he will waive so he can get top line minutes elsewhere and pad his stats for a new contract. He hasn't shown enough here for top minutes.

Start him on a popcorn diet right now?

Yep he was given a chance in camp, didn’t look ready. Was part of the rotation of guys getting light minutes and has over the course of the season earned more and more playing time.
He’s done what this org and fanbase has begged young players to do. Do whatever you can with whatever ice time you get and earn more time.

I'm sorry, but its hilarious how many Edmonton fans (not all) overrate this guy.

He's been horrible this season and some of you give him some sort of immunity and think he's a superstar.

How much worse does he need to play for ya'll to see this?
You have an innate hate for him. An inexplicable hate and you cannot provide any evidence to back up your point. Keep on hating.

Not sure what metrics you are looking at.. maybe just points.
Eye test says Bouchard is dumb as door knob many nights .. last night being a good example. Can compare him to Makar for anything more than offense which is usually a secondary assist on a McDrai magic moment.
Lol- you also said Ceci is a good defenceman based on your “eye test”.

At what point does the team consider waiving Skinner. Or are they at that point?
They even won’t give him a shot in practice. They have Ryan filling in on Drai’s right side in practice.

We need to play Bouchard with different partners before we give him his big contract to make sure he’s effective without Ekholm. With all his warts he’s still worth around 8 million but if he wants 10+ he needs to be able to play great with anyone.
He’s already shown he can play with whomever and have the same results. Ironically, it’s Ekholm’s metrics that drop

Bouchard is an elite defenseman, full stop.

All the complaints about Nurse "brain farts" and "bad d" over the years were reasonable IMO, since he wasn't doing much on the O side either. When Bouchard is having a rough time in the D zone he's almost always still tilting the ice toward the O-zone.
Also in the Neutral zone. Oilers fans think the game is either in the O zone or D zone when in fact most is played in the neutral zone. Bouchard is elite at preventing zone entries and transitioning pucks NZ. How many pucks end up on his stick is just ridiculous

The analytics just don't make sense on this guy. Even last night he turned the puck over too much, it just didn't end up in our net.

He played poor and got demoted.

Even in the Ozone in the 3rd when he was driving the net with the puck on his stick in the slot he was too slow and got caught from behind. (it's nit picking, but a true elite offensive guy finishes that play)
It's one thing to argue his defensive play (I still think the good outweighs the bad, but there is a valid debate there), but to say he isn't elite offensively is just silly, and shows me you're pretty biased here.
