Preds fans say that Carrier has been really bad. I'd bet that he's just being dragged down by the whole team sewering. His floor seems like a RD Kulak, which I would have liked

Barron is still young but is running out of time.
Yeh I just read that lol. Carrier has been bad this year. Interesting.

Sounds like a change of scenery type trade.

I would puke if it is Savard

I like early trades though. Develop chemistry
If we get Savard I'll be optimistic about it but it's just so bad on paper. Nurse clearly needs a partner with good skating and passing. Imo that is the only reason that Nurse is better this year. He gets to play with Kulak and Stecher. Nurse was also great with Broberg. So just get the RD version of these players, and an upgrade on Stecher

Oddly it seems Nashville is intent on not retaining. You'd have to be crazy not to think they'd get a lot more for Fabbro/Carrier if only they agreed to retain a little.

Oof, if you are in the NHL you better be ready to spend like an NHL team. If I was a Preds fan I'd be pissed. Also, said it once and i'll say it again, as an Owner Katz provides the purse strings, that's like 95% of his job well done already.

I would have paid way more than that for Kakko. Missed opportunity for sure.

Eh, I disagree.

Kakko has arb rights - and the arb can't award a pay cut / less than qualifying - so likely costs you 3.5 to 4 million next year regardless of performance.

And we're talking about a guy who with top 6 minutes can't consistently outscore Derek Ryan in his D+5.

Why are you act like that’s a bad thing? lol would you rather want Savard?
I'm not lol. I'm currently in the middle with Matheson. There's things that make sense about him on the team and I think there's a nice skill package there. But there's also some Tyson Barrie like warts too I've seen. I'll need to watch another game of his.

No Matheson doesn't mean we default to Savard though. It better not be anyways.

Imo Carrier was smart not to retain on. That uses up a retention spot for this year, then three more. With Fabbro they lost him for nothing. Maybe full retention would only get them a 3rd.

That team might do a bit of a tear down and would need their retention slots.

I kinda like the move for Nashville. If you think you made a mistake, admit it and move on. If Carrier stays as bad as he's been this season, you're paying to get rid of that contract by next year probably.

Cap space is so valuable right now. If you can take guys without retention, you get first dibs on lots of good players.

If Nurse's new D partner is a player who has some Tyson Barrie faults, I don't mind tbh. Nurse and Barrie were a pretty decent pairing lol

I'm shocked at how much people are ripping Mike Matheson. I mean guys are you for real? This is a top 4 guy. It's not like we'd be putting Corey Potter with Nurse. Matheson is a legit top 4 defender.

I'm shaking my head reading some of these comments

Then pack it up. Might as well end the season here. Didn't alot of you guys, including me, end the season last year in November?

He is not a top 4 guy on a good team. He has the same problem Tyson Berrie, Erik Karlsson, Bouchard and a couple other D men have. You are just looking at his pts and not his overall play. Right now Montreal knows there is interest in him and are spoon feeding him minutes.

The biggest issue I have with him is how bad he is in his own zone. We already have enough D that are liability in their own zone-we do not need another one

How would you rank these targets? Any of them realistic?

Marcus Pettersson
Ryan Pulock
Jake Walman
Alexandre Carrier
Bowen Byram

Problem with Pulock is he is signed 6.15 will the summer of 2030

With the owner in Buffalo having to step in mid season Kevin Adams is all but done. The hockey management structure and people there makes Buffalo the worst in the league. Seems lots of experienced people can see this and they must have talked to Pegula--you kinda wonder why he doesn't listen.

Do we think EDM even gives him another shot this year?

Yes of course they do. I wouldn't place too much on Low tides evaluations though.
I mentioned about 10 days ago that he was learning quickly and likely mid January you will see a cup.
Matvey is worth a mention as he appears to have turned a small corner. He is off the plateau. For some reason i was always in his corner.
