I just find the whole thing silly and more dirty pool from the Knights.
The Waivers system is designed so that if you aren't going to use a player in an NHL role, another team has the right to use that player in an NHL role. It's designed to advantage the player and give a player an NHL shot. But what the Knights did here is do the exact same thing the Oilers were going to do, put him in the AHL.
The Knights FAFOed in trying to troll us with Lavoie. They are now burning a contract spot on a player they have no long-term interest in while he actively sewers their AHL team (-15 in 17 games!!!). It serves them right for messing with a young guy's development for zero reason.
Meanwhile we could use Lavoie on our offense starved farm team. If I were his agent I'd have looked at filing a grievance with the PA, this whole fiasco has been incredibly detrimental to his career.
