I wonder if it's possible to snag Bowen Byram out of Buffalo with the trade rumours surrounding him. Very intriguing young player with tons of talent who dominated against us back in the 2022 playoffs. His defensive metrics have been pretty bad the past 2 years but he's still a productive 23 year old defenseman (hovers at around half a point per game, mostly at even strength) at a reasonable cap hit and put up solid defensive numbers in Colorado as recently as 2022, might be fixable with some Paul Coffey magic.

I would love either. Unlikely they're available though given Anaheim and Montreal's current rebuild status.
Damn they have done some stupid things in the past with that horrible management group in Buffalo. Normally i would say NFC but with the people in charge in Buffalo they just might panic again.

Fowler gone for a 2nd at $4M?

I don’t know if there’s a defenceman in the League that fits the definition of “meh” better. Like he’s always been fine, but just meh, and now he’s regressed from that. He has 2 years left too.

Off the rumor list now and can go babysit Brobitch.

Risto is the same age as Nurse, there is no upside, they are the players they are and he's not playing better hockey than Brett Kulak.

I’m well aware how old they are. Despite his flaws, Risto has played at a much higher level than Kulak. Risto is basically Nurse lite

I can’t see why Buffalo would move him, but he’d be a complete no brainer, and the kind of guy that would be worth overpaying for

Was this sarcasm? It’s hard to tell these days.

In cast it isn’t Risto is not on Buffalo anymore.

I don’t really see how a non playoff team spending draft picks to add an old d-man is a good risk. He has a 4 team trade list clause, flipping him could be difficult.
I just mean good risk in that Fowler is a good bet to be better than he looked than in Anaheim. We do not know how much better. I'd say that with both Fabbro and Fowler, these are players that could have solved our #4 spot problem.

As for the Blues, they are a bubble team, so it's an admirable move in that they are going for it.

Maybe it wouldn't be the right move for us since we are likely cruising into the playoffs so delaying a move can work out

Risto would definitely be in the project category like Fabbro and Fowler. I'd say Risto is the weakest choice of those three, although at least he's right shot, unlike Fowler.
