The guy has never hit 50 pts in his career yet hes a bonafide 2nd liner?Sam Bennett at 4.4 million is a welcome addition on any team, and he wouldn't be a 3C he's a bone fide 2nd line forward whose value is greater than his stats indicate. Sam Bennett at 7 million... not so much. He already has a Cup but has never gotten that big bag. I suspect he'll go to the highest bidder and we can't afford to be getting into bidding wars with Bouchard and McDavid needing new contracts soon. Lest we get caught with our pants down on another Holloway/Broberg situation because we wasted 10 million in cap space on Arvidsson/Henrique/Skinner.
As I see it he's fairly skilled, hits hard and is a good fighter. He's a real PITA to play against. We need some of that on our team.Sam Bennett is overrated. Not sure what other people are seeing here. If you want a rat, find one that isn't bout to get P A I D
It's games like these where you need guys that can park in front of the net and deflect pucks or at least cause screens. We have Bouch that can really fire the puck, but we need more guys willing to screen the goalie than just Hyman.Interesting to see USA - Canada last night and how it looked a lot like Oilers vs Vegas, the way USA was simply clogging the slot. Canada needed better puck distribution from the points, but also they needed a shooting threat. I would have made a point to get some bombs off from Parayko during the PP. He would look great in an Oilers uniform.
Anyways, it was interesting to see Canada struggle against the Vegas method when Cassidy is the assistant coach.
I agree with that entirely. To take Hagel or Cirelli over Hyman was absurd. It's games like these where you need guys that can park in front of the net and deflect pucks or at least cause screens. Not for how much he’s about to get paidAs I see it he's fairly skilled, hits hard and is a good fighter. He's a real PITA to play against. We need some of that on our team.

Zach Hyman never crossed 41 points in his career prior to coming to the Oilers too. Bennett has paced for over 50 on multiple occasions but missed out due to injuries (which is a legitmate reason to not hand him a 7 million dollar contract btw, I'm not saying we should sign him). The guy has never hit 50 pts in his career yet hes a bonafide 2nd liner?
I am a bona fide fan of Bennett now after taking on the Gronkowski of hockey if Gronkowski were dumber, uglier, and way less talented. But Bennet is a $5M to $6M guy to me. I don't doubt he could get $7M plus though.Zach Hyman never crossed 41 points in his career prior to coming to the Oilers too. Bennett's point totals are low partly because he gets hurt a fair bit. But goal totals are solid and his IPP numbers are very good. The latter means that he is in on a good percent of the goals scored while he is on the ice. For this to be the case and his assist totals to be fairly modest it means he is typically playing a lot with guys who don't score all that much.We do, but he’s going to be paid more than they should for his services. Ideally the scouts find a guy needing a second chance on a cheap contract
And he runs through guys and throws absolutely bombs. I remember he almost landed a few sleepers on Nurse when they went at a few years ago.Bennett's point totals are low partly because he gets hurt a fair bit. I always liked Bennett going back to his days in Kingston. I actually think Bennett could work well with McDavid.
Bennett McDavid Hyman
would be kind of a nightmare for a lot of teams. The two wingers are both puck hounds and excellent possession guys who go hard to the net. It would not surprise me if playing with McDavid Bennett scored 20+ 5 vs 5 goals on a regular basis.
Bennett is not a straight ahead speedster but he goes at top speed much of the time he is on the ice because of his tireless motor.
Yes, but from a non-Oiler perspective the guy I really think we should have taken is Tom Wilson.I agree with that entirely. To take Hagel or Cirelli over Hyman was absurd.
That's fineGood news is the cap is going up bad news is the players demands will go up as well.
We have Bouchard needing a new contract this off season and McDavid next.
I do not see us going big game hunting in the off season
and Jeff Skinner was an 80 pt player before coming here. Id be pissed if they signed him to anyother over RNHs caphit.Zach Hyman never crossed 41 points in his career prior to coming to the Oilers too. Including mcdavid and he walks. Smart logic..I hope we stick with Skinner just to piss off all of the whiners. Go home.
We have a better version already in Kane tho.....As I see it he's fairly skilled, hits hard and is a good fighter. He's a real PITA to play against. We need some of that on our team.
No kiddingIncluding mcdavid and he walks. Smart logic..
And passing on ScheifeleI agree with that entirely. To take Hagel or Cirelli over Hyman was absurd.
Imagine being so far up Skinners behind, that you hope they stick with a guy who will fail them eventually.Including mcdavid and he walks. Smart logic..
