I'm not sure what his exact value would be but I'd guess a 4th or 5th.McCarron is worth a 6th at most
I'm sure Kane will be out until playoffs. I cannot confirm this, but let's use some freaking logic here.View attachment 977044
I f***in hate Seravalli man. A 2nd for a guy with two goals in 46 games? Pacing for 12 points over a full 82 game season? Jesus christ.

JJ had a good idea for the offseason, but once Debrusk decided not to come here it all went to shit.Well for starters Frank's an idiot, Arvidsson does not have an NTC.
BUT the sad thing is I can see Bowman doing this and only this and then patting himself on the back for a deadline well done. If we take his words and actions at face value, we're not getting a top four D, a goalie upgrade, or a top six forward. That leaves "depth", AKA trash like McCarron who isn't pushing anyone out of the lineup except for maybe our 11th or 12th best forward.
There's very little to be optimistic about when it comes to the playoffs. The entire org got a close up look at where they are inadequate last summer, and their response was to make the team worse. What a clown show.
It's not a question of logic though. In many ways it is up to Kane. Unlike a guy like Stone, he seems to be a guy who badly wants to be playing. He posted about being back on the ice recently. I still think he will be out for the season, but I am less sure today than I was three weeks ago.I'm sure Kane will be out until playoffs. If we do end up adding a bottom 6 player ONLY then management should be Hanged. Vegas can find a way every year and we can't?
Unfortunately the logic is we are not Tampa or Vegas. Just because they can get away with it does not mean we can.I'm sure Kane will be out until playoffs. I cannot confirm this, but let's use some freaking logic here.

Yep if Kane tells the doctor he feels good to go there’s not much the Oilers can do about it.It's not a question of logic though. In many ways it is up to Kane. Yes, that's the main reason. Drai was getting torched when he was centering his own line because he could barely skate, he was a liability, which continued even on the McDavid line. You don't remember this? It was a huge talking point during the playoffs and obvious when watching him play.
My friend, I literally posted all the goals the depth scored. I don't know what else to say and why you're not understanding the facts laid out.
Just seems like we're going round and round and ending up in the same spot for some reason.
You said the depth didn't score enough and I showed literal facts of them scoring plenty so I'm not sure what else I can say to change your mind.
My contention is that the top guys disappeared in the games they lost in the finals which is the main reason they lost, and Skinner giving up a cream puff to Reinhart in Game 7. No team is winning SC finals games when your top 2 players score 1 point in 3 games. The only two goals scored in the 3 losses in Florida was Ekholm and Janmark.
I'd be less annoyed if there was some guarantee that those 10 games would get him to a point where he was peak Kane. But I doubt that would be the case. They really could use his cap space so I hope they figure this out.Yep if Kane tells the doctor he feels good to go there’s not much the Oilers can do about it.
Kane coming back with like 10 games left at 50% would be pretty annoying though.

In an episode of Oilers Now sometime in the middle of August, Stauffer was talking about Knoblauch. A texter wrote in to complain that he wished Knoblauch had more of an edge, and Stauffer responded that while Knoblauch displays a calm outward demeanor, he also can have an edge if he is pushed, and that Evander Kane "learned that the hard way this season". He then added with respect to Kane "if you insist you are healthy enough to play, you should be healthy enough to practice. You can't have it both ways".One thing I keep noticing on Oilers Now from Stauffer is that even he is clueless on Evander Kane and he seems to get upset whenever he brings him up. I wonder what’s going on there
They need to be investigated once and for all if he's back day 1 of the playoffs. I hate that shitty team.Meanwhile Theodore is already 'out until the playoffs' according to Friedman.
Cannot make this shit up lol
The NHL needs to get more of these Dr's Vegas has. These guys are always bang on with their return dates. Elite doctors.Meanwhile Theodore is already 'out until the playoffs' according to Friedman.

Pretty good chance that Kane won't be back until the Conference Finals or later. He hasn't even been able to train properly because of his surgery.Easily the worst possible outcome is if Stan Bowman has a press conference claiming a healthy Kane returning and signing Klingberg was our deadline.
I fully agree with all of your points! Though Kane staying out until the playoffs is almost a necessity I'd say. Not surprisingly Vegas almost for sure have Theodore out until day 1 so they will be adding something significant. To stay competitive in the market the Oilers need that cap space.I'd much rather he stays out and does us a solid, gaming the system just a bit... but I agree that him posting that he's back on the ice likely means this hasn't really entered his thinking, which is disappointing... its on management if they haven't discretely explained the implications to him.
Having said that, the silver lining is... if Kane comes back healthy, he's a huge "deadline" add. If he's not, we add someone... we only get screwed if he comes back and isn't healthy, hopefully if it's still touch and go at the deadline, someone talks some sense into him.
We didn’t pay them because at the time they weren’t worth that money. Not paying Holloway was a mistake. I think he exceeded everyone’s expectations. Hindsight though.I remember the narrative that the reason the Oilers didn't sign Broberg/Holloway was cause they wanted to accrue cap space throughout the year and land another top 4 defender or some other "big fish" at the TDL
it better not be just "nibbling around the edges" cause it makes not re-signing them look even worse than it already does
From a points per game perspective, he is 432nd in the NHL among forwards. Dead heat with Derek Ryan at 0.15 - and he's worse at faceoffs than Ryan.I'm not sure what his exact value would be but I'd guess a 4th or 5th.
I said from the get go that letting Broberg walk and keeping Holloway was the move. Sigh.We didn’t pay them because at the time they weren’t worth that money. Not paying Holloway was a mistake. I think he exceeded everyone’s expectations. Hindsight though.
Not paying Broberg was not a mistake. He stinks.

of course it was an overpay at the time, but good GMs know that eventually be worth it....but accruing cap space only to turn around and not bring in a sizable piece for the playoff run is the better option insteadWe didn’t pay them because at the time they weren’t worth that money.
