Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | With Klingberg in the Mix Who Are Our 7D After the Deadline?

Read my post.
I included every loss from every series last playoffs for a reason.

The secondary scoring on this team wasnt good enough then and it still isnt good enough.
As the playoffs roll along the quality of the teams and the coaching gets a lot better. Better systems and better execution of those systems.
Shut down McDrai and you have an excellent chance to beat this team and the cream of the crop in this League have systems in place to do just that.

Goaltending is an issue but the level of denial on here around secondary scoring being an issue is astonishing.

They spent 10 million on forwards in July. At some point enough is enough.

Shit coverage for these games, streams keep dying. OH well guess it'll be even less watched then the All-Star Games.
I have a great IPTV service that I have used for 6 years flawless, but I still pay for TELUS basic with Sports package. When my kids, etc hog them all, I just use the TELUS Optik app. Works great.

Which ones? Not arguing, I'm just not familiar with which underlying numbers to look at for bottom-6 wingers

Doesn't matter how much we spent. How much did we spend on Jack Campbell? We didn't keep him... Knobs freaked out last year that we didn't have wingers for Drai, btw we still don't.

Secondary scoring still is the single biggest need on this team. The good news? We will be adding a forward.

Had to fix an error in Gregors goalie article a few days ago

Stuart Skinner struggled in a few games early in the series v. Vancouver and was pulled for Games 4 and 5. He returned and in his final 15 playoff starts he allowed two goals or fewer."

May 27 vs Dallas
- 4 goals allowed (.810 save percentage)

June 10 vs Florida (Game 2) - 3 goals allowed (.893 save percentage)

June 13 vs Florida (Game 3) - 4 goals allowed (.826 save percentage...Oilers lose by one goal)

June 18 vs Florida (Game 5) - 3 goals allowed (.906)

Everyone complains about our gm but imagine having Lou! God he must be a mobster cause he should have got fired a long time ago. What a mid team.

Frank Seravalli poured cold water on Gibson and Donato to Edmonton. Says they don't know if Kane will be back or not so it might be money in money out.
They're morons if they don't weaponize Kane's LTIR money into cap space if they aren't accruing anymore.
I don't want to hear this shit about "money in money out" when they have options to create cap space. Sick of that tired narrative from the Holland era.

In the Florida series, all the goals in Game 3 were from secondary scorers (all gone now but I digress).
A whole bunch of non-McDrai guys scored in Game 4, the depth guys scored 2 of the goals in Game 5, they scored 4 goals in Game 6 and the depth guys scored the only goal in Game 7.

The depth scoring was actually pretty tremendous in the SCF, that was not the issue. The issue was scoring 1 goal total in the first 2 games of the series, none by the top guys, and nothing from them in Game 7 and Skinner letting in a soft goal on the game winning goal. The depth guys were great in the last 2 series in particular, not to mention the historically good PK led by the depth guys.
Now it's a new set of depth guys so we'll see how they do come playoff time but depth scoring was not an issue last year.

Don't get me wrong, the top 5 (McDraiman, Bouchard, Ekholm) did a lot of heavy lifting as all top guys usually do for teams but the depth guys weren't an issue last playoffs in the back half in particular.
I think the biggest detriment to the Oilers in the Cup finals was Draisaitl playing at like 50% capacity if even that, he could hardly skate and was a non-factor.

In your Rantanen deal, I wonder if Arvidsson could go the other way, that way the Canes get a scoring forward, as well as assets? I do like Arvy, but I would trade him for this kind of change/upgrade.
