I wouldn't be upset if both [and Brown] were dealt. Blackholes I tell you
Brown at least is cheap, can PK well, and is effective in the playoffs.

But yes, the other two I have no loyalty to and would be happy to move on from them.

I'm loving the idea more and more of landing Rantanen if we can. It might be tight for a year or two, but sometimes you get great production out of million dollar players, while you get very little from 7 mill in Skinner and Arvy.

Side Note: I hope we lock up Emberson soon but negotiations might be tough. The cap is going up and I think more teams might learn from the Blues body of work last summer. I doubt Emberson is keen to take less than 1.5

With cap going up ~20ish M over 3 years, if Bowman is smart, he can probably fit in Rantanen if that rumor was legit.

Not sure how much leverage Emberson has. I mean if some fool wants to overpay for a guy that has less than a season under his belt, go for it

I just love pointing out when people post dumb shit.

Kinda like when you called someone out that the nhlpa wouldn’t let McDavid sign a cheap contract, and then when multiple posters say otherwise you just ignore the subject.
Nah you just love attacking certain people on the internet. It has to do with your personality.

I said

1. Rutherford is always first to market = True
2. We better move our first or a top prospect for a player as good or better than Pettersson = True

I don't see any realistic way Carolina lets Rantanen walk, they gave away a huge piece in Necas to get him if he walks they will have gotten absolutely fleeced.

The only way he hits UFA is if he absolutely hates it in Carolina for whatever reason.

A intriguing option out there is Dylan Cozens. If Buffalo would be willing to retain, I would definitely try for him. He's big and fast. He can score and has versatility (Can play centre and wing)

Don't think we have the assets to get him, we have Savoie who they gave up on already and a 2026 1st that is likely to be low as the centerpiece of the package probably doesn't do it. If we had signed Holloway or Broberg still, sure then you'd have something to make a deal with.

They aren't in a bad spot, never said that or hinted at that at all. I said I was happy with the results, and that they are a very, good team. I said, depth, and middle 6 production are a concern, especially as other teams continue to add and improve around us (Dallas, Vegas, Calgary - all have). Colorado got better in net, downgraded upfront, but i am sure they are planning to add.

Kane is a complete wildcard, off for about 10 months, and coming off multiple, major surgeries. Hard to count on his production when he comes back.

My main point was, how many of the following would you say is having a better than average season so far???

RNH - no.
Arvidsson - no.
C. Brown - no.
J. Skinner - no.
Janmark - no.
Henrique - no.

Not even one of them is having an average season so far. To me, that could turn into a problem, when the games start to matter, and this team needs a goal. It can't all be on 97, 29, 18, and Corey Perry. Either some of these guys need to step up and start scoring, or they need to make an acquisition or 2, or hopefully a combination of the 2.

Way too many passengers this season, when it comes to actually scoring.

Youre not wrong about wanting to upgrade guys in the lineup. I would be disappointed if we didn't we didn't try and improve our lineup. Having said that we're currently a top 5 team in the NHL so their is no real rush.

Having said that, I dont think the laack of depth scoring will be an issue. I think we need to make some decisions on guys but we can't just look at offence.

Fans need to accept that Knoblauch has changed the way this team plays. He's happy to keep rolling out players with 0 offence so long that they play on the right side of the puck.

Henrique, Janmark and Brown are all being put in defensive roles this year. Henrique has the best GA/60 on the team this year. Brown still has 20 points on the season (while a guy like Frederic has 14). Janmark has been a black hole offensively but helps with the PK.

RNH can do more offensively but he's supposed to be that defensive conscious on that top line. Skinner has produced in his limited role but Knoblauch refuses to play him in the top 6. I doubt he's here at the deadline.

Arvidsson has also had good defensive metrics but someone that looked fantastic in the playoffs last year.

Tbh were just kinda coasting right now and waiting for the playoffs to start. I'll the pieces are there and we don't have any glaring holes in the lineup.

From my viewings the three most impactful Canucks in that Edmonton series were Silovs, Miller and Zadorov. Without any of those players, we promptly dispose of them in five games. None of them are left on this year's roster.

I don't know how the Marcus Pettersson negotiations will unfold, but it's difficult to see them getting him signed for anything less than the contract they probably should have given to Zadorov this summer.

Vancouver has now moved on from both skaters and Silovs is sporting an 0.898 in Abbotsford this season. Life comes at you fast.

Not trying to be a “hater”but Skinner was the reason that series was close.

Very true. It's like that stat that was just posted about Skinner's awesome stats lately. He is tantalizing great for stretches, and it seems whenever he does great, that maybe he's finally put it together and will be consistent now. This is partly why Woodcroft was fired. He put all his faith in Skinner and he was not good when the chips were down.

I actually do think Skinner is young enough that he may yet find consistency but as of today his MO is that he is streaky as hell, which is okay in an 82 game season but scary in a 7 game series.

Skinner-Vejmelka

Makes me sleep easier, and it lets us test Skinner to see how good he really is. Maybe he outclasses who we trade for, and then I'd more comfortably put blame on our skaters for how streaky our goalies tend to be

Sometimes you need to give credit to the other team and notice the players that are contributing. It's not always our players underperforming that result in games changing course.

Skinner underperformed in that series and lost that starter's role for a period as a result. He came back in and won games 6 and 7. Doesn't take away from the context of Vancouver's players playing well.

They don’t really have a say in that though. He walks if he wants to walk.

They will want to try everything they can to keep him because if he walks at the end of season there would a major bust. Unless they win the cup.

While I don't care much about timing (whether it's now or at the deadline) this front office better do something good at some point this season.

As a front office, the management here has done really f*** all that's meaningful since bringing in Ekholm and that's now years ago.

Frankly a 1st for Henrique was an overpayment and resigning him at 3 mill per also hasn't been a great move. Arvidsson isn't fitting in well here, the coach seems to hate Jeff Skinner, so both of those moves don't seem to be working and all that led to being handcuffed into basically letting two 1st round picks get offer sheeted.

This front office needs to gets it shit together and do something meaningful for a change, it's been long enough now since they've done anything that moves the needle, frankly they're coasting off the Knoblaugh/Coffey coaching change bump still.
I knowwww, the team has been terrible the last 2 years. Ugh, curse this stupid management.
Coasting off the coaching bump? They've been an elite team for over a year under the new coaches and were within a goal of winning the cup, that's one long coaching bump.

They've added players that have made positive contributions, no marquee names but this team doesn't need another marquee name. If they don't do much at the deadline then you can go on with your bellyaching but this constant bellyaching is premature.
