Its called being very desperateI dont get what Vancouver is doing lol wasting a first on a ufa to be defenseman when you're on the outside of a wc spot right now.
That’s a(nother) shit trade for the Canucks, IMO.
Reeks of desperation.
Obviously a terrible situation for Vancouver however they have improved a bit defensively. Rutherford still has till the deadline to try to find a guy that can at least play quality 2C.
Boeser likely gone in the off-season. Hughes leaving after 26-27 is in the tea leaves. This might actually be the year VAN has to go for it.
As well as a first round pick which is currently 11th overall. I actually thought Pettersson looked pretty slow against the Oilers - I’m not sold he was a good pickup.Canucks give up a trash Vinny and get Pettersson lol. Meanwhile our guys are asleep

Kulak has never played top 4 level minutes in his career prior to this season where his chief competition has been Stecher and Emberson. Kulak is a 4/5 tweener who has played more like a 4 for all of half a season, pump the brakes he is not on M. Pettersson's level.Kulak does play top 4 and the only reason he isn’t top 4 full time on this team is because he has Ekholm and Nurse above him.
I guess, but the 3 guys leaving had 150 points last year, and the 3 guys coming back had 72…
You can't make this shit up.
This is awesome. He is going to struggle with the speed in the westCanucks GM: I've got a fever! And the only cure, is more Pettersson's!!
He is far from the high end of a defensive defencemen. He gets badly exposed against speedy wingers.Kulak has never played top 4 level minutes in his career prior to this season where his chief competition has been Stecher and Emberson. M. Pettersson plays a quiet game, but he is the high end of the pure defensive defensemen in the league, quality at defending the rush and roughly a top 20 d-man on the PK.
You’re being ridiculous.Okay man Kulak is good but Petterson is top 4. We don't need to deny it. With all the trade chips being taken, who is even going to be available? I am not expecting any moves now. There is not much left right now. Isn't this the year we are suppose to go all in Stan Bowman?
I said this last year? Waiting to make a trade is a terrible choice
Yes.Bowman 0 for 2 on the day. Do I still have to wait for March to complain if all the good UFAs are gone by Sunday?

This supports what I said, plus the eye test and seeing him defend Connor better than 95% of the league.
Then as for the reason why he suddenly became "awful" defensively, it's a combination of morale in PIT being low, the team structure they had has been eroding with time, and then roster quality.
His main d-partners being Erik Karlsson who is well known for both juicing GF and GA in a dramatic fashion when he is on the ice and an over the hill Kris Letang.
Yes!! Thank you for posting. At least some here get it. I don’t understand where this mentality that every transaction must involve the Oilers or else mgt isn’t doing their jobs comes from. It’s completely non-sensical.That, quite frankly, is what we got with Klingberg. Difference is, we didn't pay assets through our noses to get him. But SOME here want to pay assets through our noses because we need to 'prove' to the NHL we are 'busy'..
It’s just the same 3 or 4 posters and I’m pretty sure 2 of them are the same person.Yes!! Thank you for posting. At least some here get it. Frankly, because they aren’t involved is often a larger indicator that they are doing their jobs. And well.
We are old and lack prospect pool depth. We're third in the league. Why do we need our 1st rounder?
Hit something over a trade of a NHL team that is desperately trying to just make the playoffs?I saw this trade. I need to hit something or someone. I am positive we can depend on Klingberg to trend positively. But... Why aren't we making more activity? Isn't it better to trade BEFORE the stupid 4 nations tournament?
