Its called being very desperateI dont get what Vancouver is doing lol wasting a first on a ufa to be defenseman when you're on the outside of a wc spot right now.
That’s a(nother) shit trade for the Canucks, IMO.
Reeks of desperation.
Obviously a terrible situation for Vancouver however they have improved a bit defensively. Rutherford still has till the deadline to try to find a guy that can at least play quality 2C.
Boeser likely gone in the off-season. Hughes leaving after 26-27 is in the tea leaves. This might actually be the year VAN has to go for it.
As well as a first round pick which is currently 11th overall. I actually thought Pettersson looked pretty slow against the Oilers - I’m not sold he was a good pickup.Canucks give up a trash Vinny and get Pettersson lol. Meanwhile our guys are asleep

Kulak has never played top 4 level minutes in his career prior to this season where his chief competition has been Stecher and Emberson. Kulak is a 4/5 tweener who has played more like a 4 for all of half a season, pump the brakes he is not on M. Pettersson's level.Kulak does play top 4 and the only reason he isn’t top 4 full time on this team is because he has Ekholm and Nurse above him.
I guess, but the 3 guys leaving had 150 points last year, and the 3 guys coming back had 72…
You can't make this shit up.
This is awesome. He is going to struggle with the speed in the westCanucks GM: I've got a fever! And the only cure, is more Pettersson's!!
He is far from the high end of a defensive defencemen. He gets badly exposed against speedy wingers.Kulak has never played top 4 level minutes in his career prior to this season where his chief competition has been Stecher and Emberson. M. Pettersson plays a quiet game, but he is the high end of the pure defensive defensemen in the league, quality at defending the rush and roughly a top 20 d-man on the PK.
