Tippett like McLellan is a great regular season coach but not a guy you win a cup with. Good systems coaches that can take a team from bad to good but will never get a team over the hump. No feel for the game.

That was how many years ago? The Avalanche beat him to the tune of a 5GAA. Hell even the mighty Canadiens had no trouble beating him that year. We beat arguably the best goalie in the west last year.

Besides, we wouldn't have to worry about the Jets until round 3. And they'll likely be gone by then.

The fact is we got a good three rounds last year with fairly mediocre opposition goaltending (Talbot is decent but McDavid/Drai know him inside out and have beaten him 2 billion times in practice so there is no mental edge he can possibly ever have).

I don't think it's a given that will repeat again this year, you probably are eventually going to have to play a team where the goalie is A) good and B) on their game for that round.

I don't think it's a given he's a great goalie. Yet. Might get there, but even last season he was what? .905 in the regular season? That's fairly mediocre and a massive drop from his season prior, it's not that shocking that we were able to get to him.

He's not like a Bobrovsky yet where he has multiple past good seasons and especially good playoffs to lean on (he had a great series against ... Calgary ... lol ... whoopity doo) where you have to be afraid of them even if they are playing bad in a stretch.

Yeah and maybe he gets there as a top goalie eventually, I'm saying as of last year it's not like he was a bonafied superstar goalie.

.905 last year was a massive drop off for him, if he goes on to become a top goalie then maybe we were fortunate we got him in a down season.

The fact is though do you really think we're going to get another 4 playoff rounds in a row with the level of goaltending we faced last playoffs? Probably not. Eventually you are going to run into someone good who is actually on their game by simple probability. You have to be prepared for that.

Not really the same at all. Blackwood has had similar results with multiple coaches. Gibson has had decent to good numbers with every coach except Dallas Eakins. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him rebound. If any fanbase should account for an Eakins affect it should be us.

They're old, have zero elite offensive talent, and are only 3 D-men deep. They have a bunch of good forwards, but they're sprinkled around anywhere and none of them outside of maaaaybe Johnston are going to scare anyone with any consistency.

That doesn't speak well for his overall attitude if he's a quitter. And I've certainly read a few Ducks posters suggest exactly that. You're paid to play regardless of how bad the team is.

Jack eichel was a quitter on Buffalo hasn't had any effect on him since he went to a annually good team.

Go find me a goalie with incredible stats on a team that's been tanking for 5+ seasons. I don't think you could find one in NHL history period.

Carey Price had mediocre seasons with the Habs statistically when they were bad, but given a window to go to the Cup even on his last legs, he was able to elevate his game in a hurry and take them to a Cup Final beating teams like Vegas in the playoffs which is absurd. That Habs team had no business winning that round.

When the sta red won it was because of their goaltending and depth. Now all of a sudden the goaltending wasn’t that good and they weren’t really that deep lol.

Tougher in what sense though? If it’s not taking a toll physically what does that even mean or how is it relevant? I would say we were more physically worn down through the first two rounds than they were.

Tougher in the sense that that Colorado and Vegas are straight better than LA and Vancouver. If you play weaker teams, you're going to come out fresher than playing a tougher teams.

Other than the Kings series which was never really in much doubt, the Stars one was by far our easiest IMO. At no point did they really scare me, the Oilers losses in that series were mostly due to self inflicted wounds in Games 2 and 3. I felt comfortable we would beat them the whole way.

That team isn't physical whatsoever, there is no gamesmanship whatsoever, they have no depth on defence to concern you. They're just kind of "there" in all areas.
