Ottawa
As someone who lives in Ottawa, you're right. No one comes in from out of town to see Sens games unless it's Leafs or Habs fans, and the Sens are playing them. It's hard to get people in Ottawa to go unless they're winning, and even them sometimes. It's just not that kind of sports town for whatever reason. Perhaps a downtown arena will help, because that arena is way out there. I used to live in Kanata, and going to a game was pretty easy, but if you live in centretown, or good forbid, the east end, it is a crazy trek, with really bad traffic.

Brock Nelson would be ideal, he can go resign with the Island after.

If Nelson is not available Trent Frederic would be great, but is he even available?

I seriously think we need another Centre. I believe we will add another Centre.

There's really not many pending UFAs out there that aren't on playoff teams. Looking at the list, Nelson might be the best one. Would imagine the price will be high considering how sought after centers are. You look at a team like Toronto with Matthews going down, or Minnesota, Colorado and Vancouver all needing depth scoring more than we do. I'm just not sure we'll be the team that trades for him.

It doesn't matter because Kane was a Sabre too! That was a while ago though

I'm guessing the ask would be a 1st plus Savoie

Does anyone know anything about this Connor Clattenburg we signed today? Looks to be a guy destined for an AHL/ECHL career. I remember when we draft when we drafted him that the phrase "Long term project" was used. I know he was only a 5th rounder but curious if anyone has taken time to watch him

99% of players signed that are taken after round 1 are destined for AHL/ECHL careers.

more after the 4th round for ECHL and from what have been able to figure out on what little there is on line about this guy is he like one of the coke machines we drafted a few years ago
He's better than an ECHL talent. There's a lot to like with this player IMO.

I’d like to keep all of Akey, O’Ryan and Savoie unless one is going back in a trade that will help us for the next 3-4 seasons like the Ekholm deal.
Agreed, those guys are invaluable to extending the Cup window beyond the next season or two. The prospect cupboard is just too bare beyond those guys to flush them out. If they could be dealt for a fairly young long term solution then I'm down but certainly not for any 30+ year olds unless it was Ekholm level guy locked up long term.

All the picks should be on the table. They don't have their current 1st but any future 1sts, the other picks they hold, the 2nd+3rd from Broberg and Holloway. They have some picks to use as trade bait.

Part of that is that maybe we should be aiming at buy-low targets. Look for the top 4 RD version of Podkolzin, but even there I'm fine with giving up more than a 4th.

That does mean that we are not looking for the next Ekholm trade. We just need someone just like Stecher, except a notch better

Munzenberger is a legitimate prospect with the way he's been playing this season. Bourgault was turned into Jarventie and Podkolzin, too. Also, Rodrigue, who would've been splitting development time with Wallstedt is having himself a pretty decent upward trajectory himself and probably isn't far from breaking into NHL minutes.

Know nothing about him but was just looking at the UVM players and coaches who've participated in the WJC through the years.

He's now 22 and in his fifth year of college hockey.

Is there still NHL potential?

Koala hired in Detroit.

Not the worst move tbh. The guy can get teams into the playoffs at least. Worry about the next coach later if you’re Detroit.

Eh. Munzenbergers upside is Desharnais in another 4-5 years. A 22 year old d doing what he is doing isn’t really impressive.
He looks like he could have an AHL future rather than a Europe one but still.

Skinner and arvidsson will show their worth come playoff time. I guarantee it. Just watch. 🥹
This - the season is long, just let it all play out. I thought that last season would have taught people some lessons now (Brown, Janmark, Broberg). Jeff Skinner is on a 1 year deal.. i really couldn't care less how he is in the regular season as long as he lights it up in the playoffs
