He was drafted as an overager but I think the hope is higher than this. He actually looked decent in rookie camp. The guy has a very highend motor and a gamer. He is Flint's captain.

Only ever seen some clips...Parker Bell, Henry Mews. And some scoring highlights. I would guess nobody will accuse him of high end vision or great hands. I would guess we could hope he turns into a 4th line cycler with really good grit a.k.a Matt Olivier. Not sure how to rate the chances but looks to me like he needs to get his real man strength on him to play the kind of game that will get him to the show.

Chances of him making the NHL are not great. But that is true of any 5th rounder. He may well end up as an ECHL/AHL tweener but I certainly think that the current hopes would be for at least a guy who can contribute in BAK otherwise why give him an ELC.

I know some people here likely tired of my updates on Kovy but its payback for some posters here from when i identified him when he was with Winnipeg. They said some awful some brutal things. Now he is one of the top shutdown guys league wide. One or two of them are still so bitter. I love it.

I like Provorov's game though it's largely through his junior years which I had about a dozen live viewings both regular season and playoff. Though he's often been a top pair NHL guy on poor teams, I think his game would translate very well as a mid pair and mesh with the Oilers systems and personnel.

Oil don't have the assets to burn on a straight UFA potential one and done though imo. They found a way with Henrique to re-sign but Provorov is still at a good age and likely a competitive market for next year's free agency, especially as team's move to lock up their own talent.

if Kane comes back for the playoffs and everyone stays healthy, the Oilers probably only need a 20 minute defensive d-man and a physical bottom 6 forward for the playoffs (maybe someone like Kostin would do).
The forward depth is good: Top 6: McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Hyman, Arvidsson, potentially Kane.
Bottom 6: Henrique, Podkolzin, Brown, a trade deadline acquisition, Perry, Janmark, Kapanen. Skinner and Ryan in the PB or traded.

Tough, chippy, shit disturber type that has decent hands. He comes across as a hard working guy that is willing to pay the price to score goals. I really like him as a prospect and feel that he will be a NHLer down the line. He's the exact kind of guy that we currently lack on the 4th line.

Based upon a little googling I am going to stick to long term project. I admit, I am very conservative to how high I rate any of a prospects and projects because of being burned so many times.

I see his goalie is another one of our projects is Nate Day. Curious if the oilers will sign him. Good news he is a goalie, the bad news is his O stats are not good. 6th round 2023.

Kostin is a healthy scratch on one of the worst teams in the league and makes $2 million (San Jose can't retain).

I think we caught lightning in a bottle in his one year here. He hasn't been good at all since leaving and continues to fall out of favour with every coach that he plays for.

I think he likes playing in Edmonton for whatever reason. Most players find the fishbowl atmosphere a tough adjustment, he seems to go the complete opposite and get jacked/hyped off it.

How many players show up at their former team's playoff game with their former jersey and then put it on during the game, LOL. That was wild.

Yeah. I don't mean Kostin specifically, but rather a similar player (or somebody like Kassian in his prime), who can provide physical play in limited minutes and score some goals. That or a really strong defensive guy to beef up the third line. Though it does not look bad with the likes of Henrique and Brown. The Oilers have plenty of skill and offensive depth already.

Olivier out of Columbus is your guy. Arguably the toughest guy in the league, and he penalty kills (like Kassian). I would love for the Oilers to acquire him.

Well I don't think that anyone sees him making the team before the tail end of his ELC at minimum but it's always a safer bet to write off late round picks. IMO he has the toolbox to be a player but health, luck and a bunch of other things come into play for his long term success.

He's on pace for 20 goals, which is crazy for a player like him. I'd be curious what he returns, if Columbus even trades him.

I've argued that the Oilers can put together a package better than the one they moved for Ekholm. I think they empty the cupboards this trade deadline.

Should be left open for Arvidsson/Skinner/Kapanen etc. to slide into and give their numbers a boost. I would try Podkolzin there also.

The fact of the matter is we need to get better optimization of this forward group, Knob is making poor lineup decisions in that respect.

Arvidsson instantly has a 2 point night in place of RNH because he got to play with McDavid, why was that not tried before? And it probably wouldn't have been tried if not for RNH being out of the lineup. Our coaching staff needs to be better with our forward combinations. They're not doing the team any favors here.

We've won 16 of our last 21 games. Why are favors even needed right now when we're consistently winning?

I always see this guy getting a goal or an assist, fighting, and hittign everything

Why would Columbus trade a fan fav?

He is the exact type of guy we need too. His only fault that I see is he always takes a penalty lol
