Buddy. Just drop it. Nobody is trading for Nurse and this team doesn't improve moving assets to dump his contract. Have you seen how this team spends the money it gets? Generally not well.
And Nurse isn’t waiving to leave this team to go to a bottom feeder.

Also Fowler has two years left and a 4 team no trade, Edmonton definitely is not one of those 4 teams.

Just a braindead proposal all around lol

So New Jersey beats up Florida tonight.
They rely big on Kovacevic. Plays 23.39 mins--more than a minute and a half more than Pesce or Siggy. +2 , 5 hits. Right shot D.

Dante's (everybody's darling) debut. In 16 mins ice time a penalty and 4 give aways.

Really nice pass/primary assist by Holloway tonight.

Heh, you really keep banging that Kovacevic drum, lol. I'd have time for him, but I don't see why NJ trades him, especially considering how much he's doing for them right now. They aren't that desperate to get Nemic time I don't think.

Are you related to Kovacevic at this point? :naughty:

I’m completely lost on people saying that Bouchard is bad defensively, is only an offensive defensemen, is having a bad year. None of the numbers reflect this- and neither does the eye test. I think folks focus way too much on in-zone defence and not enough of neutral zone play and zone denials. Even denying all that- he is the only one that can exit a zone like he does. Say we take all those things away yet again- his goal suppression is excellent. I don’t get the “teams don’t score much when he is on the ice and he moves the puck the right way- he sucks” narrative. He does this with and without Ekholm as his partner. Check out NHL_Sid’s article on oilers nation- he has a great breakdown

I'd be interested in Marcus Pettersson, he's got the wrong handedness for us, but he is a real quality low event D. I like him more than many of the sexier D options for us.

While I want to give Philp some runway in a 4th line role, from what I've seen of Eller he still looks highly competent in that role, with 50% retention he is interesting to me.

The only other player who interests me is Drew O'Connor, he's kind of under the radar as a player, but he's got some scoring touch good frame & wheels, can PK and his cap-hit is $925K

Marcus Pettersson would be an excellent add.

I keep looking at San Jose and how they have a bit of a logjam at the goalie position. Blackwood and Vanecek aren’t world beaters by any means but they are above .900 on a pretty bad team. Then they have Askarov killing it down on the farm. If I’m Bowman, I am putting in a call to Grier sooner rather than later.

Wouldn’t mind Vanecek. We could have had Chris dreidger for free, but here we are… no one could have possibly seen this coming 🙃

Blackwood is very intriguing. Injuries derailed his progress- but there is definitely something there. We have Dusty Schwartz here that would not help him and would prevent us from trading or moving on from Skinner

siging Skinner to one year 3M vs a cost controlled Holloway for several years seems like such a horrendous mismanagement of assets right now

Blackwood has insane athleticism but has been on poor/rebuilding teams his entire career and then injuries.

Some of the saves he makes are insane though. I could see a player like that really firing up this group.

I'd take a look honestly at any one of the lower cost options out there

Blackwood
Logan Thompson
Cam Talbot
Alex Lyon
Dostal if the Ducks are willing
Vejelmeka
Nedelkojvic
Blomqivst
Vladar
Rittich

Blackwood could make a ton of sense. Low cap hit, expiring UFA, bottom feeder team that has multiple other goalie options longer term. Has excellent lateral movement and is the same size as Skinner.

Well I agree with most of what you guys are saying. When he was with NJD he showed such great upside and quality mechanics to start--a star in the making. Then things started to go sideways. Not sure if other teams got the book on him and he started to work slowly through it but NJD gave up on him.
I think there is something there....something greater than Skinner.
Sure would like to get a real quality Defensive D to partner with Nurse first before Blackwood gets here.
Also there must be some guy somewhere in the AHL doing great goaltending coaching that would like a chance in the show.

It's nice to consider upgrades, but as the team can't really make moves of significance, best to just grin and bear it. Nothing can be done.

Plus Stan's really busy.

Edit: I know Stan is busy and this won't happen, but really try to wow the Blues and see if Hofer has what it takes.

To STL: Pickard and 2027 1st

To EDM: Hofer

Then maybe trade Skinner

To Utah: Skinner

To Edm: Ingram

Then the Oilers can go

Hofer
Ingram

It's just a hope, but so is right now.

I'm going back to it, call the Sharks, make a deal.

To SJ: Nurse, Dermott, Kemp, 2027 1st, 2026 2nd and 2028 2nd

To EDM: Walman, Goodrow and Rutta

The team looks like

Skinner - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Nuge - Henrique - Brown
Janmark - Goodrow - Perry
Ryan

Ekholm - Bouchard
Walman - Rutta
Kulak - Emberson
Stetcher

Explore it. SJ isn't competitive yet, but it will get there, and it's solid place to live as a rich guy.
And Nurse waives his no trade clause why?

Your obvious hate for everything Stan Bowman is quite hilarious. The only people who are making news daily are PDiddy and the Kardashians. There are ZERO GMs in the league that are “in the news” daily. That doesn’t mean they aren’t doing worthwhile GM work behind the scenes.

We already had a GM that was like Monte “lets make a deal” Hall in Pete Chiarelli. He got ran out of town because he lost more than he won. Why would we want Bowman to make those same mistakes and regress the team? Judge Bowman after the trade deadline and a July FA period. To do so now is beyond premature.

Yes, Stan was a terrible hire, he doesn't deserve this job and seems to be doing f*** all the entire time, besides the Draisaitl extension. The depth is gone because he needed a vacation.

I don't know why you guys feel the dying NEED to lick Stan's boots, but you don't have to do that, you don't have to provide him cover, excuses or apologies.

Stan's job is to improve this team, not just hang out and get paid. So Stan, should f***ing get to work.

And Nurse waives his no trade clause why?
He doesn't so it's impossible, I've been more recently clear about this. Plus, Stan's busy.

This team basically has no ability to make actual changes, it's only nibbling around the edges.

After 2 1/2 months on the job you deem him a failure because he’s not making front page news every day?

That tells us everything we need to know.

I haven’t listened to much media this year. But has Bowman/Jackson even done any interviews or made any comments about the team this year?
