I keep looking at San Jose and how they have a bit of a logjam at the goalie position. Blackwood and Vanecek aren’t world beaters by any means but they are above .900 on a pretty bad team. Then they have Askarov killing it down on the farm. If I’m Bowman, I am putting in a call to Grier sooner rather than later.
We have a pair of Skinners to trade.

I would just trade Stuart simply because he's going to be massively overpaid. Let's alone being a below average backup. The last thing the Oilers want is another overpaid player with an NMC
He’s still under contract next season so I really don’t know why a potential extensions 20 months from now would be of any concern/consideration….

If you read the original offer from the Columbus fan, you’d understand why that counter offer was thrown out there.

Try keeping up
Go read the rest of his proposals and keep pretending like that was what jimmi was doing. Maybe pay attention for once in your life instead of caping for your fellow celler dweller posters

Something brewing with Buffalo. If Stan isn’t involved someone here is gonna be really pissed…

League sources say the Buffalo Sabres are among the busier teams phoning around sizing up the trade market. I asked Sabres GM Kevyn Adams about that Tuesday, and he said, “I believe in this group, but at the same time I am looking into every possible way to improve our roster.”

Said one rival team executive about the Sabres: “They’re looking to do something big if they can.”

Don't worry, people will just apologize for his absolutely no efforts whatsoever to materially improve the team. Because it's hard or something.
Usually new GM's like to get familiar with the team before making moves. That said he should be getting a pretty good idea of what upgrades are needed by this point.

What do they have that could help us? Any decent D or goalies that they might be willing to move?
Not exactly sure what might be available. Just some folks believe the Oilers should be involved in every NHL trade and transaction or management isn’t doing their job.

That said, only players I’d even get out of bed for on their roster are Byram and Luukonen.

Ah you're right, Stan's busy like I keep saying. Like he was so busy from his previous jobs he couldn't have possibly been ready to take over this team, you are right. Best to just give him the year, to really see what he has.

No some folk believe the GM's job is to actually try and improve the team. Other think it's just to wait around and observe. Not really sure why.

Yeah I would say that he has been busy getting to know the team and bird dog what upgrades are needed and which pieces we have that we can use to get those pieces. FWIW I haven't seen him on the beaches here in Maui mind you I'm too busy to go to the beach so maybe he is there?

Buffalo probably wants to do another "hockey trade" (AKA they trade a loonie for two quarters) so I don't see a fit there right now. Jokiharju would be a decent rental on D but doubt they look too much at futures until the deadline.

I wonder if they'd like to bring back Jeff Skinner?

Skinner for Jokiharju?

That actually makes some sense, imo.

Or to replace the forward spot and add some size.

Jeff Skinner and Travis Dermott for Henri Jokiharju and Brett Murray?

Makes alot of sense, if Buffalo is interesting in bringing Skinner back.

Roster would look like

Nuge - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisailt - Arvidsson
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
Murray - Ryan - Perry

Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Jokiharju
Kulak - Emberson
Stetcher

Looks decent to me.

The problem is we're very much in a stage where we're purely looking to add in exchange for draft capital. After 13 seasons outside the playoffs I doubt Buffalo is looking to tear anything down or sell assets for futures. I'm guessing they're looking at the exact opposite- trading young players/futures for assets to help them get over the hump and make the playoffs. Maybe we can get in on a 3-way deal, but outside of that I'm not sure how much a fit there is with Buffalo.
