His original one or the responses to it? I'm confused, are you just defending other markets now?
That's the problem that you're confused. Tell me one logical reason why a rebuilding team trades a prospect like jiricek for like 10 million in long term cap when the player taking up most of that cap is severely on the down slope. You always make proposals like this.

Ah so you aren't paying attention, fair enough and continue.

Also, it should be asked, if you're done with this team, then be that. It will save time and grief.

Being worried about the Jacket's situation is weird and pointless.

David Jiricek for Evan Bouchard as a base. Additions can ne discussed,

Any interest for the Oilers ?
As others have said, this trade makes no sense for the oilers, and, frankly, no sense from a value point of view. Even from the perspective of position, trading a RHD for a lesser RHD makes no sense either.

I know it probably wouldn't interest CBJ, but really, Jiricek for futures is the only thing that would make much sense form our end, so likely we wouldn't match up well on this one.

The only way Bouchard to CBJ makes any sense to me is in the offseason (after a Cup win perhaps) for Kent Johnson+Jiricek plus probably more, and that's only if we would somehow be able to bring in a free agent RD that could do 80% of what Bouchard does.

Alright boys, time to pick the pens clean, everyone on the table.
I'd be interested in Marcus Pettersson, he's got the wrong handedness for us, but he is a real quality low event D. I like him more than many of the sexier D options for us.

While I want to give Philp some runway in a 4th line role, from what I've seen of Eller he still looks highly competent in that role, with 50% retention he is interesting to me.

The only other player who interests me is Drew O'Connor, he's kind of under the radar as a player, but he's got some scoring touch good frame & wheels, can PK and his cap-hit is $925K

yeah, having a hard time seeing much that I want on that roster.

I do wonder about the cost on Lars Eller though.

For the record, Bouchard's still been very good 5v5. Our powerplay mysteriously going to shit is hurting him a lot.

Yeah, its very strange. Literally the best PP in the history of the NHL over a 3 year span (at least that I am aware of), with the same exact people on it, and we are 9th last in the league. It will turn around though, I am quite confident of that.

NYI will give up Pulock before Dobson. Pulock is my sleeper pick for who the Oilers are looking at.

Or Mayfield. They have a lot of money on the right side and not too much on the left. They are almost a mirror of us. Pulock + Dobson + Mayfield is 15M. One of the three won't be on the roster next year. Maybe a Kulak/Mayfield swap would benefit both sides.

They might prefer to move Pulock and get a bigger return.

Schwartz should’ve been fired in 2016 for running Talbot into the ground.

He could’ve even been fired earlier due to his handling of our goaltending from 2014-2015.

He should’ve been fired after advising Chiarelli to go after Koskinen.

We could write a f***ing novel on why this guy should be collecting EI and not on the team.

I have interest in you leaving our board and never posting here again.

I know that’s harsh, but you literally just tried to create a trade where we get rid of a defender that scored 82 points last year for a guy that’s played 52 NHL games.

Like what? Do you want to f*** my sister as well?

Pretty much all goalies here have gotten driven into ground at some point.

Talbot was driven into the ground for like an entire season(s). Least with Smith or Koskinen it was more like 15-20 game stretches. Even Skinner has been driven into the ground for stretches.

The way this team has handled goalie starts has been weird for awhile.

So you'd trade Bouchard for a prospect based on a 15 game sample size? Yikes
if the option was that trade or Bouchard at 10 million per? yes, I would. Bouchard can be really good offensively when he's playing well, but even when he's on, he doesn't dictate and control the game like other D, who are true number 1 dmen, making that kind of money. To me, he's another PP specialist, who, with the right partner, can play big minutes. I just do not see him as a Doughty/Josi/Hughes/Makar etc. This team cannot afford to have 2 Dmen being overpaid, especially since our best Dman is 2 years away from being a UFA, and being 36 years old at that time. I get that Bouchard isn't a finished project, and he's still developing, I just fear that his stats might be a tad inflated from playing with 29 and 97, and that as a result of those stats, that he will command a salary that is more than he is actually worth.

I don't think Mayfield is the caliber of player the Oilers are interested in. If they are looking to make another "Ekholm-level" trade, like Serevalli says, it won't be a bottom pairing/2nd pairing moonlighter. And I'm glad about that, because they need at least a no-doubter 2nd pairing d man who can play top-line minutes when needed.

I would keep Bouchard, he will get better and arguably has the most feared point shot in the NHL.

Ex-Oiler finds new job--exactly where I knew he was heading. Time for a long cushy retirement.

Surprised Holland didn’t go to another team to be honest.

It’s kinda weird too that Brad Holland left if he had no other team to go to. I fully expected him to follow Papa to another team. Maybe Jackson didn’t want him here or Brad really didn’t want to be here though.

Pretty sure he didn't get any offers.

I wonder about Beauvillier and O'Connor from the Pens, add depth and speed to the group.
How about Noel Acciari? Physical right handed center that I feel that can replace Derek Ryan. But, his aav is 2 million with another year left (they would need a 3rd team retaining a million).

Derek Ryan (37 years old)
13 GP, 0 G, 1 AST, 6 Hits, 8 Blks, 57% FO

Noel Accari (32 years old)
17 GP, 2 G, 3 AST, 44 Hits, 24 Blks, 45% FO

If you're replacing Ryan, I think it'd be with Philp.

The issue with Accari is he makes $2M, that's too much for what he does.

I'd guess that "mutual agreement to part ways" went something along the lines of "you're fired"..."ok".
