Surprised that Silovs was sent down. Has he been playing poorly this season?
Your surprised a goalie with 13 games NHL experience and less than 100 in the A is sent down?
He is 23. Steep trajectory for a goalie. He does have extremely good form. His potential is high but of course he has many lessons to be learned. East West is a concern for him to work on for example from the two games i have seen him. Not much but 13 games is only 13 games. Coaches establish books on goalies as you know well. The good ones work their weakness and overcome them.
Even if he works hard and has steady progression he likely has a couple of years of inconsistency in front of him.

Kid looked the part of a NHL goaltender in the playoffs so yeah I'm a bit surprised especially after we skull f***ed their other goalie last night.

Unless no one else puts in a claim this can be done. But if any other team puts in a claim he must first be offered to them.
Since you’re the local CBA expert got a question regarding the claim order. Would I be right in assuming the order is as of the time that waivers goes through, ie noon today? Yesterdays results changed the order quite a bit and if I’m not mistaken when Fabbro was put on waivers the Oilers had a worse Points % than Columbus so mainly just curious if they passed on him or didn’t have the chance to.

This only helps us if it ends up that Provorov winds up more expendable as a result… and even then I am still skeptical he’s the right player to pair with Nurse. Otherwise Bowman missed the boat on trying to engineer a cheap trade for a proven number four with no long-term risk.

Yes, they were like 4th or 5th priority we were like 10-12. I’d imagine there was at least 2 claims before us, Jackets and Utah, maybe even another.

But Columbus has quite a few dmen now, Jiricek or Provoro would be worth a phone call.
Yeah, that's definitely a team that matches with the Oilers needs well. I don't know if they have the assets to get Jiricek but that would be a great get to replenish the pipeline.

Got to think there is another Columbus move coming. They are already struggling to get Jiricek in games, then bring in another RD. Maybe they will just send him to the minors.

I've always hated this kind of mentality, just outright rejecting players cause they are on a bad team, good management teams identify and reclaim players from all sorts of teams, the ones that only look to acquire players from solely good teams always overpay and flounder into being bottom feeders in no time flat. I also don't even fully consider NSH to be a bad team, they had a huge amount of turnover and will likely get progressively better as the group meshes together.

Look at the FLA defense that was far superior to ours last year, Gustav Forsling waiver claim off CAR, Brandon Montour young d who was a borderline waiver player acquired for a 3rd rd pick from BUF (bottom feeder), Niko Mikkola (signed as a UFA not an NHL regular), OEL (recent buy-out on a bad team).
And I've always hated the mentality that unless you jump on the latest rumour you're not trying to get better.
