He named Gustafsson explicitly. All show he was asking his guests whether they thought the Oilers needed a shutdown or puck moving d, and whether a "left shot who can play the right side and move the puck" would be a good fit with Nurse. I think it was Seravalli who asked him point blank "who are you talking about?" and Stauffer responded "Well what do you think about someone like Erik Gustafsson".

Healthy scratched 4 times already this year. We have a salary dump to send the other way for him?

Keep running Skinner out of town as his replacement will be just as bad under the same tutelage.

Also anyone preferring Nurse over Bouchard is absolutely out to lunch.
Not a preference but you're being foolish if you're saying Bouchard is miles better than Nurse or the best dman on the team. I can't see them getting rid of Nurse or it being worth the cost just so they can overpay Bouch. My preference is to control some salaries, Drai didn't take a discount and I doubt McDavid will either. Can't have Bouch taking $10m yet.

That sounds exactly like the kind of "fix" I'd expected Bowman to target given his wet fart sound results so far. I hope he kept that resume up-to-date because if Erik Gustafsson is his grand plan ahead of December 1st and possibly being 5 games under 0.500, he's gonna need it.

I didn’t know Seravalli was on yesterday

Damn why’s he been healthy scratched so much? Points wise, he seems like an asset

Yup. Or Fowler

I'm fine with Fowler or Provorov. Gustafsson does nothing to move the needle enough.

Bouch is better than Nurse. Ekholm is still the best of the bunch though.

I'd pass on him. Look for higher. I'd rather pay a big price for quality than give up shit to obtain meh.
Will we finally go 'all in' this year for the deadline or is it just another wheel of excuses. We'll see, I guess.

I saw some article where they were saying that Jeff Skinner might be in play. That would be a dick move to trade him this soon unless he wants out. It was from "The Hockey Writers" are they worth a damn as a source?

He has a no trade clause, but not sure on specifics of it.

Made a post on this earlier in the week, but all of Skinner, Arvidsson, Henrique are movable deals. If we wanted to make a hockey move or get a different look in a key position I don't think it would be that difficult to move one of these players to make a change.

its a full no-move

Given it's just a one year deal, I don't think he'd have an issue waiving to go to another playoff bound team if he isn't a fit here

Not a dick move at all, its part of his chosen profession. Its a business and they are going to start losing fans (paying ones) if they don't start performing. As an 'investor' I see this a the year to get it done because of the upcoming contracts. As we can see this year once again there is no room to add some quality and the decisions on defense were so brutal as they don't have a goalie either.

This just isn't true. Bouchard was bad last game, but has been lightyears better than Nurse. It's not even close. Nurse hasn't been as good as Kulak, let alone Bouchard lolz.

I have to respectfully disagree. Bouchard is showing serious defensive lapses, is bobbling pucks at the offensive blue line, can’t get shots through, and missing assignments all with regularity. Nurse has been steadier behind the blue line overall from my observations this year even though he struggles to make a pass that doesn’t turn into an icing. What's disappointing is Bouchard's extreme high level of play from end of November and it increased all the way through the playoffs.

We have seen a noticeable dip in his play whereas Nurse's play last year was at timex exceptionally poor and didnt get much better throughout the year but this year other than the first couple of game speed wobbles, he has straightened out his game for the most part, still not where his salary is but nevertheless I believe his play has been better than Bouchard overall to this point.

Honestly he should have been traded as soon as the offer sheets came in. Long term with young players with upside is light years better than a 32year old on the down side for 1 season.

If you print out their articles it might be worth something as kindling

That being said, if they do actually trade him and it's for another D, I don't see how that solves:

- Lack of scoring
- Junk PP
- Nadir level PK

Maybe you get some god-amongst-men PKer like Cody Ceci back and you fix the PK :sarcasm:

As @Took a pill in Sbisa stated Skinner has a full NMC. It is extremely unlikely that they approach him to go to a team that is likely to miss the playoffs and teams with solid playoff aspirations are not giving up a legitimate top 4 right-handed defensemen at this point in the season so it would need to be a multi-team deal.

TJ Brodie, McKenzie Blackwood + Klim Kostin in at the deadline, probably wouldn't even cost all that much.

An overpaid 4th liner who has played his way off two teams since he left Edmonton, a goalie who is half a dozen years removed from a respectable season and a 34 year old d-man whose game has absolutely cratered over the last year or so.

The only way j Skinner gets moved is if he asks for it. And the way knoblauch has been using him, who would blame him for asking.
