He sadly would not have gotten the chance with the Oilers.

Nuge, Hyman, Kane, Skinner, Arvedsson, ---The more I look at how the roster was on July 10th the more I understand why Holloway left--Broberg can get stuffed
Yeah, I know it’s hindsight but I wanted to match Holloway and not sign Skinner. Holloway would have made an excellent winger for Drai and is $800,000 cheaper and already twice as many goals on the season. Younger, plays harder, loved by teammates.

I wonder if the Blues will trade him back…

JJ on Oilers Now, now.

Oh, by the way it’s pretty much confirmed that the offersheets came as a blindside to them.

I didn’t hear interview but if it was a blindside, I think he’s either lying or an idiot.

I remember watching Daily Face Off on July 1/2 and Gregor/Seravalli speculated about a 4.6m offersheet for Broberg. For a guy who asked for a trade, it shouldn’t of been a blindside.

Pretty sure I read that Armstrong had been working on the offer sheets and discussions for awhile.

Maybe he just ignored Holloway/Broberg on his pursuit of naming a GM. Either way he dropped the ball, because he didn’t do his job properly. He needed to be more proactive.

Similarly with Jeff Skinner he indicated he had extensive discussions with team and agent. But did he have any conversations with Knoblauch? Classic case of GM acquiring a player that the coach has no intention of using. I don’t understand what the plan was for the player.

For a guy who indicates that players need to be communicated and involved in the process etc, he doesn’t seem to communicate well with his players, coaches etc.

Jackson seems arrogant and has dropped the ball.

If a 1-0 lead is too much for this team to overcome then they can hit the links early.
You play tense when you don't have confidence in your goaltending because every little mistake end up in your net.
I believe it affects scoring.
I can't quantify it, but have played and coached thousands of games and have seen the pattern constantly repeated.

Blues need to be revenged

As for the Flames, I believe they will implode soon but who knows?

We need to play nice because they have the absolutely perfect trade piece for our team: Andersson. I'm betting we get someone else but we need to keep that possibility open as plan A
The Andersson dream should probably die. No way the Flames are trading him here unless we're giving them something absolutely ridiculous.

They still allowed one goal at the end of the day and scored zero. Weird how that didn't seem to affect them in Colorado. They basically slept through two periods and only started to actually try after Vegas had already settled into their game plan. You could tell exactly how that game was going to end by the halfway point.

lol. Ceci is bad.

Dude, you need to calm down. You’re so worked up your last paragraph made no sense. Geez, is that spreadsheet comment a new one? No one has ever made that comment before. You should go on tour with that joke.

Again- Ceci sucked everywhere he played. He is bad.
"I can't understand you, so you're wrong!" Imagine, lmao.

Don't worry you'll get it someday, lil bro

With respect to Chaulk what I feel like our AHL group has generally got better at with him in charge is most players have improved defensively and have improved at managing risk, players we call up rarely feel raw or make braindead decisions.

What I haven't seen improve is players offensive ability or signature/defining skills. In general I'd say the d-men have progressed pretty well under him relative to their skill level and the forwards have only narrowly improved and often stall out. With what his strengths are as a coach you'd almost think he'd be good at turning out the Moreau, Pisani, Reasoner types, but I think the characteristic that is lacking is he isn't instilling a tireless work ethic, if your skill level is a 6/10 your work ethic has to be atleast a 9/10 on a regular basis to make the NHL.

Also our AHL PP% is 8% which is unbelievably brutal, which I think the coaching staff has to wear.
I'd definitely disagree with that.

That's pretty much the defining skill of Bako's forwards. We saw it for a bit with Hamblin. That's what most of the guys look like down there. Not a ton of talent, but they work hard. The talented guys down there like Griffith, Caggiula, Pederson and even Savoie are the types of guys that work really hard off the puck too.

The main problem to me is you can only put so much lipstick on a pig. Like I'd say the three most likely forwards to make it to the NHL right now are Savoie, Philp and D'Amato. A guy they just traded for and two UFAs with one not even having a contract. They've really sucked at drafting/trading for/signing real prospects to turn into those Moreau/Pisani/Reasoner types.

Can we sneakily pull off a trade involving Andersson and a third party? I assume other teams wouldn't risk burning bridges with Calgary, but they can play dumb. Be like "Sure we wanted to keep Andersson but Oilers made us an offer we couldn't refuse. How was I supposed to know that you didn't want to deal him over there?".

Management blinders are still on in terms of goaltending.
No chance Skinner makes the team, his numbers are more comparable to a bad back-up than a bad starter.
He's played decent the last couple of games but that's part of the problem, inconsistency. And his bad is real bad.
Tired of the team (and fans) having to walk on egg shells every time he starts.

I just find it bizarre how certain players get protected and given tons of rope while others don’t. I mean if they protected everyone because a Canadian market can be harsh, I would get it. Its just confusing honestly.

Hyman-McDavid-Kapanen
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Podkolzin
Kane-RnH-Skinner
Janmark-Henrique-Brown

Would be fine as well. Will be interesting once everyone is healthy. I personally can’t see them running RNH/Henrique as the 3c/4c though

I guess. My post wasn’t a criticism of Kane but whatever.
Because RNH and Henrique are playing like they should be placed higher?
Both have been disappointing for what they were expected to bring.

I'll be fine with Nuge as 3C and Janmark-Henrique-Brown as 4th line

Also, one of your Podkolzins would be Arvidsson

Blues would trade their 2nd highest scorer in both goals and points?
They hit the jackpot with these 2 signings.
Holloways value is higher than any winger on the Oilers right now including Hyman and Nuge

Pracey was a big fan of Podz at the draft. Would have taken him at the 11, if Van didn’t take him at 10. JJ says Praceys assessment of Podz was bang on and he had a good insight to the player .

We had extensive reports on J Skinner. Talked to coaches in Buffalo. Knows his habits on and off ice. JJ sees him getting better recently, winning puck battles, unique skill set under the goal line. Hopeful he will start scoring more towards his career numbers.

I am glad Podkolzin is working out but basing a pro scouting decision on an amateur scouting’s opinion who was drafted like 5 years ago isn’t exactly tier 1 cutting edge philosophy. Its how you make G Reinhart deals. Not a big deal in this case because its a mid round pick, and maybe its taken out of context and he did get opinions from pro scouts who have watched Podkolzin recently. But JJ probably just got lucky in this case.

Just because Hyman is having a slow start, I don't think anyone would take Holloway in his place. You'd really have to be wearing blinders to think that would be a good idea.

You mean after they pulled Georgiev?

I remember how strongly you felt about losing Raphael Lavoie on waivers as well. Just awful management.

He's got 4 points in 14 games in the AHL now but hey hindsight is only worthwhile if it suits us.
