Funny that you compare goalies within teams. Because John Gibson frequently got outperformed by the likes of Anthony Stolarz and Lukas Dostal these past 5 years.
The point is that even goalies who are outperformed on a few teams are light years better than SKinner lol.

If the earths soil is average goaltending, Skinner is somewhere down in the earths clay crust

A "whatever meh" goalie somewhere else will be an upgrade here.

Like I said above, this is like having a pile of sh** between the pipes. Defenders are being picky about what type of cloth they want to clean it, even though evrey cloth will work.

This is like a homeless man standing outside in the cold bi**ing to me that he didn't like the nice meal I bought for him.

how can the oilers fit in 6.4M AAV for the next 3 seasons? Not seeing a way for that to work without paying exorbitant assets for retention
Jesus Christ, he still has three years left on his contract?

Let's trade for this guy because he's made 8 great saves in a highlight reel and is a WARRIOR. lol

He's made some of the most spectacular saves of the last 5 years period, dude is a gamer. He's just stuck on a team that's bombing seasons on purpose. No sane team hires Dallas Eakins after seeing what he did to the Oilers and then keeps him employed for like 3-4 years as head coach if you're even trying to win games.

Do you ever stop to think that part of the reason Anaheim has been so bad for so long is because Gibson is also bad?
Are you serious with this post? Jeezus Christ

That's it boyz. AANA is actually a great team. Its just Gibson lol

His stats got progressively worse as his career wore on.

If they want to tank then why has there been no urgency to trade him?
There are ways to tank. Maybe they don't want to go Oilers and go full scorched and ruin their team? Now they see Dostal getting better and better and Gibson is redundant and they can get something for him?

You keep looking at this as if it's a black and white issue. I am by no means saying that Gibson is the ONLY reason that team is bad. I'm saying he's one of the factors that makes the team bad and his terrible stats reflect that.

It's the same thing with this team. There can be more than one issue with any given team.

Gibson has a HDSV% of .909 through 5 games. Pretty much completely unsustainable. His last 3 years he finished .818(34th), .827(51st), and .829(30th)

He has some pedigree obviously but make no mistake this is a good run on a small sample. Buyer beware.

Take a look at their D. Cam Fowler who is a #3 at best and Gudas who is #4/#5. The rest are fringe players. That's who Dostal and Gibson are playing behind.

There's more to hockey than who ends up on the "Top ten saves of the month" list. Because those don't show you some of the laughers he lets in.

Just go to moneypuck, sort by at least 10 games played, and give me any guy available that is above Skinner. That is an upgrade in itself. It's not a Gibson thing here.
Okay, present a reasonable acquisition target.

Imagine coming into the year after game 7 and shitting the bed as a starter game 1, getting pulled, and saying "The game was too fast for me" lol

Yeah, I want this guy to back my team to a championship. Sounds like he prepares great too.

Very few goalies can maintain strong numbers playing 50 games behind one of the worst teams in the league. He has been getting absolutely shelled for years.

Well yeah I'm sure it will come down some because he plays a on a shit team.

Skinner wouldn't even be in the NHL right now if he was on the Anaheim Ducks. He'd be washed out of the league like Ben Scrivens did.

As much as no one here wants to admit/look for it, I can pull up a Stuart Skinner highlight reel where he makes some unbelievable saves.

I'm not a big eye test guy when it comes to goalies. Give me a guy who can stop pucks at a high clip, and I'm happy. Gibson hasn't done that, and he destroys our cap situation.

So what to you indicates that John Gibson is that goalie when virtually every stat and metric shows that he's been anything but?

Lmao, it's always Skinner's fault when the team loses and he's never a part of it when the team wins.

One metric that I think bodes well for Gibson is that even though his boxcars have been poor compared to his backups, his points percentage has been higher than his backups despite taking all the hard games every year except last year.

2023-24 Gibson 0.318 points%, Dostal 0.348 points%
2022-23 Gibson 0.346, Stolarz/Dostal 0.316
2021-22 Gibson 0.419, Miller/Stolarz 0.390
2020-21 Gibson 0.357, Miller/Stolarz 0.340
2019-20 Gibson 0.442, Miller/Stolarz 0.438

And it's not like his backups have been aged milk or something either - Miller was elite, Stolarz looks elite this year, and Dostal looks elite this year...

You yourself were crying a page ago Crosby, Ovechkin, MacKinnon, Eichel having Cups, do tell how many Cups do you think that group has with .901 and .899 Stuart Skinner in net during their Cup drives?

Zero quite probably. Maaaaaybe that Colorado team that was so loaded out the wazoo that they didn't really need a good goalie, but the others ... they don't win shit.

They win nothing. Nothing for Crosby, nothing for Ovechkin, nothing for Eichel, that's for damn sure.

Those guys all needed outstanding goaltending, not just decent, outstanding to win their Cups.

I never denied Stuart Skinner being a steaming pile of dog feces though? I'm just saying that you don't replace the bag of dog feces by trading for a more expensive bag of horse manure.

I'd love to have outstanding goaltending. John Gibson is absolutely not an outstanding goalie and Dustin Schwartz is certainly not an outstanding goaltending coach.
