Pretty crazy. I'm surprised the Sharks even had the ability to limit a team to 11 shots. Ceci must have been on one tonight lol.

If I remember correctly, I think Blackwood started last year hot then faded as the year went by and graded out slightly below average.

Adin Hill and Giorgiev were both hot tonight and a masterclass game between Vegas and the AV's. Doesn't even matter where they are in standings this game looked better than most NHL games are looking and most teams are looking. Total intensity all game, AV's flying all night. Vegas stuck with them thanks to Hill

Mackinnon looks like he was shot out of a cannon for this game. Just a good game to watch as no NHL games I could see on Monday and none tomorrow, and of course no Oilers all week. Effing NHL.

For sure. But I'm seeing around the league teams taking a game off here or there and getting drubbed. Really unlikely results on some nights. Dallas got clocked as well. Thing is the team can play when they set their minds to it and Nich was looking great with scoring the goal and in the shootout. Just lasers, both. No goalie was stopping either.

I wonder whatever happened to those NHL NFTs? Are they still selling them? The NHL is woefully behind every other major sport (and it's not like they're all that well run either) because the league is managed by nepotistic dinosaurs who still haven't moved into this millennium. It also is dreadfully expensive in an era right now where the cost of living is super high. And now we have like 10 different subscription programs to watch any given game. The NHL is a directionless dinosaur run by morons more concerned about money than literally anything else.

Hockeys in trouble cause of decades of incompetent NHL leadership. Youth interest in hockey is down in the States and Canada. Even kids realize a shoddy product when they see one.

Hockey is a hyper expensive niche sport with a lot of barriers preventing people from getting into it, a long standing problem that has been exacerbated in recent years by an inflation plagued economy and spiraling costs. NHL has never had, nor ever will have control over such things, and it's not a matter of just making the sport more popular.

It's not even an NHL problem either despite Seravalli's alarmism, sports participation among kids is declining across all sports, especially in Canada. There are a whole host of issues affecting participation beyond just the monetary aspect too, including rampant obesity, limited availability of facilities, increased anti-social behavior, and a generation of kids plagued by extremely short attention spans brought on by non-stop instant gratification feedback loops(social media, tiktok, video games etc).

It’s a little bit of both I think. Hockey equipment and programs are really expensive of course. But even families with the means, they are only going to dole out that money if their kid is super into it. No interest from the kids and even the Richie Riches of the world won’t be playing the sport. I know a couple of parents that wanted and were willing to pay for hockey for their kids, the kids just didn’t have interest.

You are right though regarding those other issues that could be affecting their interest. We living in the tik tok generation.
