He's intriguing, but can't help but be curious as to why he couldn't get any traction in Columbus.
A team trading a big, right handed defenseman two and a half years after they drafted him 6th overall is in of itself a huge red flag. You hope when acquiring him that he was just getting the Broberg treatment and needs a real opportunity to show he can succeed.
It really feels like it was just that. Columbus has a bunch of RD in his way. We had too much LD.
Fixing our defense for a cup run would be awesome but it would be great to get younger as well.
And btw just looking at how great an impact Broberg was having on the Blues, it's not like getting the young player with more potential than proven pedigree guarantees short term suffering. It can be the right move for the future AND for today.
Chasing a proven talent is no guarantee either, as we've seen with Arvidsson and Skinner.
