He's intriguing, but can't help but be curious as to why he couldn't get any traction in Columbus.

A team trading a big, right handed defenseman two and a half years after they drafted him 6th overall is in of itself a huge red flag. You hope when acquiring him that he was just getting the Broberg treatment and needs a real opportunity to show he can succeed.

From CBJ, Merzlinkins intrigues me because he strikes me as one of a few handful of goalies who would be too stubborn to listen to Dustin Schwartz.

The voice of reason reaches out of the Dark. I sure have been excited and have been just looking at the positives.

I dont know. Think i would get sick of hearing the media team(s) exclaiming 'ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING'.

I've already beaten this horse for a few pages yesterday, but I'll just say he gave up his routine muffin goal in the most important game possible and that was the differen e, after his horrific performance in the first 3 games of the series that put the Oilers in a virtually insurmountable hole.

I just can't believe there are still people who think this is the guy. Maybe they think this Oiler team could be the 2022 Avalanche. And it's unfortunate for the fans and players that the galaxy brain organization probably thinks the same.

Yeah that horse was definitely dead long before you started beatin’ it.

The Oilers scored 1 goal. Thats a losing effort. Nothing else matters, our goaltending was irrelevant.

Defencemen take longer, probably longer than our window. What you need is a guy that you’ve already been slow-playing and developing for 4 or 5 years so they are ready to contribute. You know, someone like that guy on St.Louis, whats his name again? Philip B.?

It really feels like it was just that. Columbus has a bunch of RD in his way. We had too much LD.

Fixing our defense for a cup run would be awesome but it would be great to get younger as well.

And btw just looking at how great an impact Broberg was having on the Blues, it's not like getting the young player with more potential than proven pedigree guarantees short term suffering. It can be the right move for the future AND for today.

Chasing a proven talent is no guarantee either, as we've seen with Arvidsson and Skinner.

A team as old and slow as ours should be adding high end young talent

yeah, only stats. What a dumb way to evaluate a goalie. Much prefer your "well he's linked to the Oilers and/or available so that means we should get

Really? You're re-entering the conversation after ghosting me like 3 times earlier this season when I asked you to provide any evidence at all that Gibson is better than Skinner and you couldn't?

Welcome back
Answer this question

Does skinners stats get better or worse if he was a duck and vice versa?

The simple eye test shows how much better gibson is then skinner. And Skinner is litterally putting up echl type numbers right now

Bold prediction: It's all three teams involved. Jiricek to NSH. Carrier to EDM. Whatever to CBJ.
That makes a lot of sense considering Jiricek could be poached like Broberg at the end of the season.

Preds may have a bit of buyer's remorse after just extending Carrier.

I'd guess that Jiricek would be pumped to be an Oiler and would sign an extension to go along with the trade

Thats literally what the expected goals metric is for. To prevent your "just trust me bro" logic on theoretic situations.
