Copying this from twitter. I actually am starting to loathe this org

Pierre Lebrun says the Oilers are not looking for goaltending help and “They are ready to sink or swim with Stuart Skinner”
I feel like there is 2 positions on a team you never shit talk as a GM:

1.) Your head coach cause players tune out a head coach they think is on there way out.
2.) Your starting goalie- goaltending is such a cerebral position that spending even 1% of your time thinking of extraneous thoughts other than saving the puck tends to compound issues.

Behind the scenes you might have all the plans in the world to shit can or replace them, but the public facing rhetoric is and should be you fully support and believe in them.

This 100%. What the team says in public is likely not what they are thinking privately, and especially when it comes to goaltending. Look, I don't think the world of our management group at all, they royally screwed up pretty much every move they made this past offseason. But nobody is dumb enough to look at our goaltending the past 2 years and think "yeah, we have no concerns there". I'm not saying they are going to make a move, but they are for sure looking into tending solutions. The need is as obvious as the nose on my face.

I dont like the Bruins owner and I dont like Sweeney much either.
But they were relevant for basically 10 (TEN) years. That comes with poor drafting overall. And less assets to work with.

If your a fan of the Oilers maybe you should look at home management before you think your in a position to talk Smack about what was one of the best eastern teams. How long have they been poorly managed compared to the sh-t stink of Oil management.
Are you new? I've criticized the hell out of Oilers OBC management. In fact it's because of that exact nonsense that I can see it in another organization. The Bruins aren't very well run.

What we've already been talking about, but tosses in the added hint of term left.
Well, "a little term" cancels Provorov and Petterson. A little term leads me to believe it's an Ekholm type guy not in terms of ability but in terms of contract so like 2-3 years remaining, really not sure who fits that criteria. Carrier from Nashville perhaps? Trotz is looking to go into sell mode as per his comments but they let Fabbro go so, I don't know.

Carrier fits the bill for need and contract remaining, but I don't know why Nashville would let him walk unless we overpaid by quite a bit.

It makes sense they are looking for someone with term.

They don’t want to be dealing with this same issue in the off season if they’re spending assets on plugging the hole on that second pairing.

I remember MacT publicly stating that he did not have confidence in Dubnyk (or something of that nature) and we all saw how that played out. I 100% agree, keep it under your hat and then if need be make a trade.

The outline for the roster post deadline:

Henrique-McDavid-Hyman
Kane-Drai-Arvidsson
RNH-(Trade)-Podkolzin
Janmark-Philp-Brown
Perry

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-(Trade)
Kulak-Emberson
Stetcher

Skinner/(Trade)
Jeff Skinner will get it going, I think he'll still be on the team post-deadline. They're gonna have a lot of forwards.

I suspect we will end up with Murphy or Jokiharju. I prefer to have a natural righty than a LD playing right.

When I hear Stauff saying stuff like management would be fine with a LD I suspect that's about negotiation more than anything.

Lindholm has far greater two-way ability than Skinner and he also plays with more edge. I mean just look at Lindholm's career PK minutes= 1334 mins to J. Skinner's= 59 mins and Skinner is the older of the 2 players.

E. Lindholm is like 2 notches removed from the ideal B's player mold, Skinner is more like 5 notches removed. I also think it is a bit premature to view them signing him as a mistake he was quite slow adjusting to the Nucks as well, but started playing far better after the initial adjustment phase.
I don't disagree with anything you write. But my point was simply that gone are the days when teams like the Bruins stick to a type. They added Lindholm because they were stripped completely of skill at the center position when Bergeron and Krejci retired. He's a fine two way player but has always been inconsistent when asked to carry offense on his own. And while he may have more of an edge than Skinner, he's definitely no Stan Jonathan. His two big years have been riding shotgun with more talented players. Zacha has come a long ways (loved the guy in Sarnia) but he is far from a proven play driver. More of a solid two way center who would be a #2 on a lot of teams in the league. Together Zacha and Lindholm are a big step down from Bergeron and Krejci.

Again, if you read my post I did not claim that the Bruins would be actively looking at Skinner. My original post was in reference to why Skinner might actually wave his NMC to go to a team like Boston where he might have more of a chance to play a bigger role should he continue to flounder in Edmonton. I've watched Skinner since he was a kid playing here in Kitchener. At this point his flaws are well know, But it is also the case that he can get hot and when he does he can do the most difficult thing in hockey far better than most, he scores goals. Coming into this year he scored 92 in his last 3 years. Boston right now has few natural goal scorers anywhere close to a hot Skinner. Pasta is in a fun Marchand is aging fast.

The unconditional love for Henrique on this board is hysterical. He has been garbage.

Let’s hope it’s that and not just Stauff setting up the expectations of the market (which really is part of his job).

Truth is, there’s not much RD out there and if there were there’d be half the League in on them.

Known as one of the biggest "winning culture" organizations in the NHL for over a decade.
Their top 2 centers retire and everyone writes them off. They follow that up with a playoff birth when nobody had them winning.
They follow that up w/ the best team in regular season NHL history.

I think you're confused here

Feels like last year with the goaltending situation. Even as well as Skinner played late in the playoffs his extreme inconsistency is just not tolerable for a Stanley Cup favorite. They need to bring another netminder in, whether it be via trade or perhaps promoting Rodrigue. The entire attitude and demeanor of the team suffers when they can't count on a save. Same story as last year - this team is good but not good enough as is.
