He's a conservative Russian guy, so the Southern US fits him much better, plus some of those places don't have taxes. Going to get paid in FLA even if it's "less" than Edmonton or Calgary, is more money on balance and a better fit for him.

Least Prororov has some potential but I haven’t watched him much recently. Like most players coming here I am skeptical about him fitting in.

I am personally not high on Nurse especially in the playoffs (he is generally fine in the regular season) setting his cap aside. I think he needs a better partner than someone whos a 3/4 D.

I’ve never really seen a realistic trade for a Nurse partner. I don’t know who compliments him. I think he needs someone who can carry the pairing and I don’t know how we afford that or find that.

All the forwards he acquires are either big, have two-way ability, or play with an edge and sometimes a combination of multiple of those attributes.

The closest player they've acquired to J. Skinner in his time there has been Taylor Hall and that was back when he was perceived as more of a game breaking talent being only 3 years removed from winning the Hart trophy and the edge Hall plays the game with is a very distinctive notch above Skinner.

I'm not going to disagree that the Bruins could use more skill, but much of the old brain trust, former Bruins, and scouts are still in place and they have a clear team identity that they build to.

Lindholm has far greater two-way ability than Skinner and he also plays with more edge. I mean just look at Lindholm's career PK minutes= 1334 mins to J. Skinner's= 59 mins and Skinner is the older of the 2 players.

E. Lindholm is like 2 notches removed from the ideal B's player mold, Skinner is more like 5 notches removed. I also think it is a bit premature to view them signing him as a mistake he was quite slow adjusting to the Nucks as well, but started playing far better after the initial adjustment phase.

That's who I've been lobbying for, I think he could jump start the offense on our 3rd line.

He has legitimately played bad this year, but this to me is an ideal buy low opportunity, which we don't do very much of.

So losing an aging Bergeron and Krejci over a couple of years had nothing to do with it?

They are obviously missing both a highly skilled top line centre and a quality second line center.

Take both McD and Drais off our team and see how we look for the next 4 or 5 years.

Well then maybe their OBC should work on that instead of turnstiling coaches.

I know this is an old post but that would be completely idiotic. The worst thing they could do is make a panicked move and the defense isn't the freaking issue now anyway. Plus they're 2 points out of the division lead for christ sakes lol

Thank god Gazzola really doesn't know anything.

Sure, but it's not a panic move, it's a move to improve the depth. The lack of Nurse has made it clear the concern.

I feel like their defence has been fine without Nurse.

The defence in general has been pretty solid all year. I would hate to see them screw up their cap situation at the cost of adding a more impactful player closer to the deadline. I know nobody wants to hear it, but the team has been playing pretty well, they just haven't had a good start on special teams or with goaltending.

I dont like the Bruins owner and I dont like Sweeney much either.
But they were relevant for basically 10 (TEN) years. That comes with poor drafting overall. And less assets to work with.

If your a fan of the Oilers maybe you should look at home management before you think your in a position to talk Smack about what was one of the best eastern teams. How long have they been poorly managed compared to the sh-t stink of Oil management.

Their defensive game is solid and the defense has held it's own, but they clearly need another body who's better than the majority there.

Further to this, a better puck mover and player who might be better at providing offense, will help the team score more which is still a problem.

That's an interesting idea but I would also be really curious to see how well this would work:

Ek-Bouch
Nurse-Kulak
Provorov-Emberson

We of course know the first pair works, we saw a lot of promise in the second one, and then that third unit would get super-soft minutes so Provy can be the primary puckmover and let Emberson take care of the detail hockey which is what he's good at.

Most teams can't compete with having a Provorov on their third pair so we could end up with some solid mismatches in our favour rolling them like that. It's more likely some combo of Nurse/Provorov would be tried first though and they'd figure out which is better on their offside pretty quick.

I am one of the biggest Skinner "haters" here. Even I would be happy if they at least try to get somebody that can push him or take the job (I don't think that would be hard to take personally). Do that if you can't get rid of him.

They obviously do not care about Pickard TBH. They won' let him run with anything.

Provorov is a rental, that's a big mistake if the Oilers are giving up big assets for a one and done player. They also have to get double retention if they trade for him anytime soon. All sorts of red flags around a move like that.

Jiricek would make much more sense. He seems close to NHL ready, cost controlled, RHS, young on a team full of old guys. I don't see how they have the assets to get him but this is the type of player they should be targeting or a late 20s Dman with some term. Rentals or old guys I'd have no interest in.
Pettersson I like but, again, likely a rental. Unless they could get these guys re-signed for a few years then I have no interest. Provorov is almost aassuredly a rental, Russians like the big American cities.
