I won't stop posting this stuff.

Lmao. This is absolute nonsense and you know it. He bested one of the best goalies in the league and kept a high powered Dallas team at bay, including absolutely stealing the series winning game. And people still shit on him for it. This is straight up Canucks-level delusion.
I know our shot counts were pathetic that game 6, but he stole it? That means he made at least multiple saves he should have no business making. Or was he doing what he was supposed to do.

It's a lot easier to score #2 when it's 1-1 and the other team is taking offensive risks then when it's 2-1 and the other team has parked the bus.
Why would the Panthers take offensive risks in a tied game? You don't do that unless you're losing.

So just sit around then and protect skinner at all costs. Do nothing?

Might as well fold the season then.
Dustin Schwartz, I keep telling you.

Have you not watch the Vancouver series? The Oilers breezed thru LA in 5 games with Stuart trying to tank the series. Skinner did an even worse job against Vancouver. We almost got eliminated by them when it was a nothing series and Stuart turn it into something else
Okay? The Oilers played one more game than the Panthers did leading up to the Cup Finals. I don't care about "Almosts". Almost doesn't count for anything. The Panthers almost pulled off the biggest choke in professional sports. Doubt they care now.

Yes, and they could have grinded out a second goal, like you might expect they would have needed to do in game 7 of the final. Just like you would have expected Florida to have to grind out their game-winning goal. But Florida didn't have to, of course.
They would've to either waaaayyyy. What part of this is so hard to understaaaandddddd

Just shows you how good of a team the Oilers were. They gave nothing to Dallas and made Stuart look great. Imagine the Oilers last season with a competent goalie
Lmao. So when the Oilers win Skinner had nothing to do with it and when they lose it's only his fault. Got it. No wonder the fanbase has the reputation it does.

Maroon played a bigger role in 3-peating than Stuart did in playoffs and he was a 4th liner. But people will say Stuart played on a team with 2 goal away from a cup

He played one terrific game against Dallas. ONE.

It takes FOUR wins to advance.

He was mediocre in the other games. All I've been asking for is MEDIOCRE goaltending. Mediocre is good enough for this team to be elite!

You know what IS delusional? You acting like Skinner has been anything f***ing TERRIBLE this season.

Fair.

Although I think I've converted a lot of the board at this point...

At this point last year it was pretty much just me and @Drivesaitl saying Skinner wasn't it.
You don’t get to take credit for that. People have said skinner sucks since his first game against Ottawa when he nearly blew an 6 goal lead. There’s nothing wrong with waiting for someone to develop a little before jettisoning them off to Mordor. Don’t forgot that until last year skinner wasn’t the starting goalie. They signed Campbell and before Campbell they tried to find other goalies and even offered markstrom a contract.

What’s concerning is the management being ready to sink or swim with skinner. Personally I don’t believe that and think it’s just media posturing to save some face for trade talks. Skinner isn’t it. You’re right but most people just here and chirp everyone saying they suck and they’ll be right way more often than not.

Me personally i hope and believe in players until they show they don’t deserve it and until this season skinner hasn’t hit rock bottom. Sure he wasn’t the best goalie in the league, he’s also not paid to be one or pretended to be but he didn’t contribute to winning more games than not.

I feel our coaching staff is to blame here as we have had too many goalies come through our team and just fall apart at the seems that go on to have successful careers with decent numbers. The problem is the goalie coach and if we waste assets brining in a new goalie chances are they fall apart at the seem as well. For some reason the goalie coach as survived a ton of coaching staffs over the years and it’s unclear why.

This is the dumbest thing I've seen on here since the Oilers-Canucks series. The self-satisfied foolishness of the weird extended spelling is even more annoying.

Goals let in by Skinner in the Dallas series: 2 (2OT), 2, 4 (aka the one bad game), 2, 1, 1.

You're right, he was f***ing terrible. I can't believe they gave up zero power play goals in that series. What a bozo.

Sure he played a small role. The Oilers insulated him and isn't given enough credit. If anything, the Oilers forwards and defense put on a clinic.

Skinner is a back up goalie/1B, he is what he is I don't really see the point of having a big debate about it, he's showing what he is this year and given every chance to do so.

When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

I honestly would say he's below Koskinen in the goalie tiers during the McDavid era (slightly). I don't think he's any better than Pickard either, maybe worse.

Talbot and Smith are the only two legit goalies in the McDavid era here.

Because you're not getting it. They needed to score twice. They scored once. Skinner would've had to completely shut out the Panthers to win the game.

You're not getting it. The fact that the Oilers were grinding out a 1-1 game in game 7 of the stanley cup finals does not somehow justify the absolute stinker Skinner let in to lose the game. Your position is absurd.

Skinner should've shut out the Panthers in Game 7 of their barn. He also should've scored a couple goals. I read you loud and clear.

Pickard has a 2.44 GAA, that's good for 15th best in the league, he should honestly be getting more starts, the way this org plays favorites with certain players is ridiculous (ie: Desharnais getting more rope than Broberg and Kesselring not even given a chance).

Skinner has a 3.33 GAA which is significantly worse behind the same defense. That's 46th in the league.

This is honestly total bullshit.

Someone here will say it's all on Schwartz

You will get one response to this and in a few games its been true

"High danger chances are not all equal"

That is true, but when a team can keep them low mostly all year, you're goalie should be much better
It actually opens to another question. As they pivoted under Jackson to become a modern, information based decision making organization including investing in building up their support analytics function, why were they content to run back the two goalies instead of seeking an upgrade.

Why were they confident in Skinner and a solid AHL/NHL tweener? What information do they have that we're missing from public source data? Or despite the enhanced focus on analytic informed decision making this organization might still be getting things wrong.

Hailed a genius on July 2 the early returns of Jeff Jackson's window tenure aren't delivering at the quarter pole of this season. Time to see what Bowman junior thinks of the state of Oiler goaltending.

So not very?

Anyway, tough to win when you don't score. That's not going to change regardless. You score only once and more often than not you'll lose.

Team that gets to 2 goals first in a game 7 probably ends up winning like 90% of the time. Happened to us in 2006 too, Markanen let in a couple of soft goals and Carolina was not going to give us any charity.

In 2024 and 2006 we win the Cup with a better goalie in net for that series, in 2006 at least there is an excuse (injury), but that's two Cup banners you could've had.

A game 7 of a Cup Final is not going to be a run n' gun scoring affair, teams know once they get a lead to protect it all costs, even scoring winger types will dive face first in front of a puck to block it if they can taste a Cup.
