Here's to hoping that he hits it out of the park.
This is all true and Savoie's impact on the Bako goal differential when he is on the ice contrasted against the team when is off the ice is very impressive for a rookie, but when I watched Holloway I could tell with near 100% certainty that he would make the NHL and be a difference maker, I'm still a fuzzy on Savoie, I've yet to see those moments that scream to me that he is a sure fire NHL player. It's definitely been the case at the AHL level. Holloway's added size definitely doesn't hurt his cause, but Savoie has definitely been more impactful in Bako than Holloway was as an AHL rookie.
Holloway's AHL Rookie Season: 33gp. 8-14-22 -4 83sog. 9.6% shooting %
Savoie's AHL Rookie Season: 45gp. 13-24-37 +16 94sog. 13.8% shooting %
Or need to see what we have before thinking of trading him.I've never been that high on Savoie, that said I've never seen him play with a Leon. Here is to hoping he plays great and helps out our depth scoring issue.
I think we can all come to the conclusion that he is not being traded now with this call up.
That’s interesting. Even when Savoie was struggling to put up points at first, I thought this kid is going places. He looked to adapt so fast to the pro game. Now he’s the best player on the team as a rookie.
IMO Kapanen is the weakest link on the team he had the worst 5v5 GF% in STL at 12.5% in 10 GP and in EDM he has the 4th worst 5v5 GF% at 43.6%. The 3 players with a worse 5v5 goal differential are Dermott, D. Ryan, & J. Brown who are all not with the team anymore. Kapanen has enough skill to stick, but has random stupid moments that are the kind of lack of attention to detail things that coaches hate. IMO Perry and C. Brown are well clear of him just based on level of play this season, Janmark is less clear, but he's definitely a prominent and trusted player for the coaching staff to eat tough PK and defensive minutes.LTIR said:Don't think so.
The team is icing Kapanen, Podkolzin etc in top 6 and McDavid hasn't clicked with anyone yet.
Savoie can literally be a fit at just about any spot on the forwards group.
The issue is figuring out who to sit to make room for him. IMO Kapanen is everything Savoie and then some more at this stage of their careers.
Maybe one of Janmark, Brown or Perry can sit a game or 2.
You probably don't know anything about him, much like literally all the players on this team....I hope this reality doesn't upset you lolI've never been that high on Savoie, that said I've never seen him play with a Leon. Here is to hoping he plays great and helps out our depth scoring issue.

Skinner could be getting bumped up (or down) to McDavid line. Also, Arvidson and even Kapanen were getting wing time with Drai+Podz so Skinner never really had a lock on it.I get the Savoie callup to, one, give him a taste of the NHL rewarding him for strong play in the AHL or, two, giving him a trial run to see if he can take a top 6 spot and eliminate the need at the deadline (although I think it's too late for that) but I don't know if throwing him into the fire on a brutal road trip is the right time. I'm assuming that he'll get a shot on Draisaitl's wing right off the bat.
Also, if the Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Savoie line is actually happening, this means that Skinner gets pushed out of the top 6 again? I don't know what more that guy could do to keep his spot. He's not only scoring goals but he's working hard and hasn't been a defensive liability to my eye.
Said it many times, Knob is a great defensive coach but he's not so good with the line combinations and getting the most out of his offensive guys.
Still need a right shot center. Someone has to take draws on the other side. Preferably with size and who can win them.Skinner mcjesus hyman
Pod drai Savoie
Kane nuge arvi
Jan Rico Brown
Crazy if Savoie works with Drai! Best center depth I've seen, a Hathaway or Frédéric would male this team crazy. Who cares about being tough if you're in the other teams end 80 percent of the game.
It's crazy how many depth guys we have. In that Bowman interview it seems like players want more ice time. Add Savoie, Kane, possible TDL addition and it starts to get really clogged up.I wonder if their gonna give Savoie a taste before the TDL cause after that, it might be tough to get into the lineup with the additions they (hopefully) bring in
What will everyone here think of the TDL if we just add say Bjugstad and a #7 LHD?
What would be even more crazy is if they added a better top 6 winger for Mcdavid. Play a rotation or mix of Skinner/Savoie/Perry with DraiSkinner mcjesus hyman

Take Draisaitl out of the picture:What would be even more crazy is if they added a better top 6 winger for Mcdavid. Play a rotation or mix of Skinner/Savoie/Perry with Drai
This 4 nations tourney is really showing that Nuge is dragging down Mcadvid's play a little bit
Now that's a deep team!

is it confirmed he's going to play some games? I was under the impression he was called up because teams with players in the 4 nations tournament were able to call up 2 extra players for practice to compensate for missing players/extra rest fr those who came back.I get the Savoie callup to, one, give him a taste of the NHL rewarding him for strong play in the AHL or, two, giving him a trial run to see if he can take a top 6 spot and eliminate the need at the deadline (although I think it's too late for that) but I don't know if throwing him into the fire on a brutal road trip is the right time. He’s not an oiler fan, so that’s what he’s hoping forId be storming Oilers HQ. What do you mean? That would be the worst TDL possible lol
