Canada was the best team for 2 period. The third was USA.
OT is written Binnington.
It was a game of inches. Both team leaving everything on the ice
Saying Canada was outplayed is a soft homer thought + untrue

I think overall Canada had the better of US in regulation especially further in the game when shortening the bench started to hurt them. But USA came out on fire in OT, Binnington stood on his head til the surge ended and USA left the wrong guy wide open.

It shouldn't have been icing to begin with.The US was screwed with fox and Hughes on the ice at that moment.

All thing equal. Both team had their sequence. Canada blowed some D coverage and looked sloppy beginning of OT and Binnington saved them. Auston lost his coverage, and Marner settled 97 for the winner. The is all. Inches. 2019 scream to me when 97 scored. This time I was a the good side.

This game was not as good as the first. I fell asleep twice and had to rewind and then felt baked for staying up so late only to see Don Ameche leave McDavid wide open in the slot for the win. Ugh.

Crazy thing is to me, tonight was Matthews best game.

And yet, big mistake by him at the end. Unfathomable. Leaf gonna Leaf I guess.

Hated losing. But I'd rather watch this than watch some all star game where the points don't matter and nobody wins.

This? This stuff is the future.

The US should have put the game away after they went ahead, missed two glorious chances.

Goaltending was the difference, people even in Canada wouldn't admit that because they where pissed he was the goaltender. The Kid is a winner and was the best choice. I wonder if DS picked him?

Him not being the star of the game is a farce.

I thought both teams where sluggish until the second.

Pretty dead even teams, someone has to win. Canada has the 2 best forwards in the league and the best offensive D ...they helped. I hate the idiot brothers but they are USA heart and soul, without them this tourney and this game wouldn't have held the same value or intensity.

I think on paper Canada’s team was way more talented. Was all goaltending and US knowing how to play with each other and just had more chemistry. Eventually Canada figured out who defers to who and Binnington stepped up.

I am from Canada... and never thought what you wrote. Fans are fans. Canadian or Ameraican have very few differences IMO. Here Boston board, I player can be a loser, then 1 period later the best of the best. It is how it is. I suggest a great breath. This was IMO one of the best US team I've seen. The earth will turn around....

Regarding this hockey game, I differ opinion.

Marchand & Crosby are nearing the end of the road .They both looked slow to me vs top talent.Maybe in the NHL they can squeak out more time but not at this level.I would bet against them in Olympics unless it's the ole charity spot. Feel free to flame me ,just my opinion.

Crosby still generates offense Marchand is cooked now ,never mind playing in the Olympics.

Now we can back to business and get rid of the guys that are no longer effective and could return something of value.

The laughing emoji kids can laugh but this tournament did nothing to help moving on from Marchand.

Not sure on the bold part. US was really well balance from top to net, grit and talent. Did not see Eichel tonite, where as I thought he was a dominant force for US. Auston played his best game till he blowed a tire.

Slavin was incredible. Brady Tkachuk, which I do not like, was pretty good.

As per M. Tkachuk, I think he was injured, should have not been dress. That what hurt US. But the US won, Canada was without Maker who was really good.

Chemistry is important, I actually liked USAs style of hockey better ...more hard hitting and intense ...Canada was more of a we'll let our talent bubble to the surface and wade through the muck inbetween...although TBH Canada could have easily put together a team of talented mean bastards that could have played a completely different style of hockey and maybe won

Agree US was more balanced, had better defense and goaltending but in overall highend skill of the forward group Canada had a lot more. I think with Olympic ice it’ll be even tougher for them. Gonna need the defense to step up big time.

Amazing game, garden was awesome, Causeway was crazy pregame. What a tournament. Sucks we lost.


BUT, and I won't post this on the main board, but is Matthews in danger of becoming an absolute loser..? can't win a game 7, can't win this game, dude can't win when it matters. Sure it's a team game, but he's been a top level player in all of those games and the captain in a lot of them...
