Nobody claimed their fans were smart, their management is leagues smarter than most though.

They got a unicorn of a top 50 player. Thats worth "all of our assets". I think Bob was very overrated for their runs, they could probably get another cup by just adding a mid tier goaltender for like, a couple 2nds.

This is what you pay premium assets for, premium players. Not 4th line centers and depth that doesnt fit.

Yeah I think Bowman's "plan" for this summer was to run it back with mostly the same team and bank on a new coach bump, but if teams like Florida and Minny (Larkin?) are making such big swings, I suspect some panic might start to enter into the Oilers front office headspace and they'll try desperately to move Jarry so they can throw a bunch of money at Bobrovsky or something.

They'd usually be oblivious, but with the possibility of McDavid not re-upping and all that entails next summer has to be dawning on them. Other teams are big fish hunting, Oilers are not even at the lake and I think that's even going to start to dawn on clueless Katz who will demand something be done.

Florida making such a big swing is something Katz will even notice.

I do believe Nill is the kind of GM that would trade with a rival if he thought it was either making his team better or was the best value for a guy they can't re-sign, but Robertsson is such a special talent that I think he would be the exception to how Nill normally conducts business.

On the off chance they were willing to trade with us, I think they would be asking for RNH, Nill has seemed to be a fan of his in the past and Duchene and RNH seem to have chemistry from the brief times they've gotten to play together.

I'd guess a package of RNH, Howard, and the 2018 1st rd pick would be of some interest to DAL, but I don't think it would be their best offer and some offers will have prospects of a caliber that we simply can't match.

I didn’t realize he could extend in two years. I thought his contract ran longer.

He already told them he wouldn’t be extending with them once his contract was up.

I think they just decided they wanted him gone sooner rather than later.

Exactly my thinking, no need for Staios to have this distraction on your team any longer, so he was kinda forced to get him out
 
Weren't there rumours that Connor was trying to recruit players to come to Edmonton also? I wonder how thats going.

We see the US Olympic guys all want to team up and requesting trades (Tkachuk, Larkin, Hellebyuck) but nothing about Canadians doing the same.

Canadian players don’t care about this shit. US players don’t either, they just don’t want to live in Canada when the US is a choice.

These bros were so damn useless in every big game this year. Of course they still won stuff, but it was the rest of the team in spite of their play.

Guess you can never discount how their annoying style combines with the power of Gregory Campbell over the refs. Gregory might be just what Brady needs to actually be useful when the chips are down.

Hey, now. They just re-signed Jason motherf***ing Dickinson. They can afford to kick up their heels for the next 8 or 9 months.
 
So… should I worry about Ike wanting to leave? Or is it the Olympic roster players that want to leave Canadian teams?
