Unlike Dickinson Murphy is a player the team actually really needs. Basically no backup plan if he walks.

I'm sure the contract will again be pricey but I won't complain.

You think Tkachuk and his 0 playoff points is gonna put them over the top?

But running back mostly the same roster that lost to a mediocre Ducks team + maybe 1 ok-ish forward add + Babcock will put serious fear into the Florida and Vegas and Colorados of the league lol.

I'd say that's not true. We needed a 3C for just as long as a 4RD. I'd argue both are just of equal importance...especially since both are key players on the PK.

Spending massive assets to improve a PK is stupid, a good PK coach can get results on that without half the fuss.

So I guess Ottawa is rebuilding then?

Can't compete with these kinds of super teams basically, Connor is probably going to have to go elsewhere and join one of them to win the Cup he wants.

Just gonna enjoy next year as a way to watch two top players in the league for however much time is left, but no way idiots like Bowman and Jackson are equipped to manage the team when competing teams are doing this.

The ante is getting raised way too high.
Connor doesn't have to go f***ing anywhere. He can win with the team he got drafted by. He's not a f***ing coward like these american f***s. If Carolina can beat Vegas, we can f***ing beat these "Super Teams"

So much of it is confidence and getting hot at at the right time. And getting lucky with health to keep it going. Vegas looked like shit for most of the year and if healthy I thought we could easily beat them in the playoffs. A coach bump and Hart being solid and they're in the cup finals. Trying to be positive, ha.

1) Dickinson isn't a good 3C
2) There are actual other options out there in that market, as opposed to playable RHD where there is nobody.

I don't see it, but I will enjoy the period of time he has left here.

Our management is playing tick tack toe, these are groups are playing chess, we can't compete with that, two players can't win a Cup no matter how good they are, hockey ain't that sport.

I will actually not take next season for granted because I don't think there's much time left with a player of this caliber, I will be getting seats behind the Oilers bench for next season at some point, something I've always wanted to do but never got around to.

Got to enjoy it while it lasts, but I don't think we're seriously competing for a Cup in the same way these other teams are. Murphy and Dickinson ... like c'mon. That ain't getting it done.

1) Analytics would say otherwise. He played well against the best of every team's Top 6. He is also more reliable than any other 3C available right now.
2) Again, I'd argue both are valuable to the team.

People laughed at Marner for being a playoff no show too ... the same shit will happen here, when he only has to be the no.3/4/5 guy, he will relax and the points will come in the post-season.

Maurice is too good of a coach too to get nothing from a player like that. When you have more depth around you, the pressure melts away.

That Florida team is going to be 3-4 lines deep, it's going to be a nightmare to match up against them.

No he didn't. He played a lot against top competition yes but he got absolutely slaughtered in those minutes. That data is all over this thread.

Knoblauch moved him down the lineup when he arrived in Edmonton and he didn't fare much better there either.
