Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | If Babcock is Our New Coach Will Players Want to Come Here?

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
Tampa and Raddysh both knew they were parting ways probably around TDL time. Raddysh knew he could get an 8 year with lots of money and Tampa would not even go there. There was no offensive 5 mil offer made because what is the point.

Tampa said we won't go to your 7/ 7.5 ask and Raddysh said thanks for the opportunity.
Again. How do you know

I could see something like this going down with San Jose:

To :sharks

Darnell Nurse (9.25 m)

To :edmonton

Tyler Toffoli (6.00 m)
Alex Nedeljkovic (3.00 m)

I more so mean we are focusing too much on how much we all dislike Gregor at the expense of that is he actually right on Babcock IMO.

Turning on was the wrong choice of words.
That would be your opinion then, so why are you acting like it's fact when it's actually very contextual and dependent on individual experiences?

Anytime the organization does something he doesn’t like or someone disagrees he becomes an arrogant cry baby.

I also can’t stand when media tries to push their narrative. He of course brings a Commodore on who hates Babs with every cell in his body but does he talk to any of the long list of players that liked playing for him? No.

Frank did the same thing to the some extent. Quick to say some anonymous agent was concerned about his players playing for Babcock, for all we know this agent could have 3 players. Meanwhile not a peep when 2 heavy hitter agents came out and said their players have no problem playing for him.

The difference is Frank isn’t acting like Babcock went into his house and stretched out his slippers.

Regarding the bold, who is on that long list of players that have said they liked playing for him?

The thing that bothers me about Babcock are the reports that he's an asshole to arena staff. Enough people have said it that it seems at least possible. It's one thing to have an aggressive approach to coaching; it's entirely a different thing to be a multi-millionaire who treats regular working people like shit.

Which staff said this though? Is this just more heresay?

Well, I haven't spoken to any arena staff or seen their testimony, so yes, it's hearsay, as is virtually every report of this nature. The people who reported it, like John Shannon, probably have it on pretty good authority anyways. I believe either Franzen or Chelios said it as well, and that might not be hearsay given that they could have seen it themselves.

And player Agent Dan Millstein stated publicly yesterday all of his clients, including those in DRW like Pavel Datsyuk liked playing for MB. He said because his players liked to win, and they liked Babcock.

I think we’re at the point that we watch what unfolds in Edmonton this season, assuming he’s hired next week.

Otherwise it’s just a meaningless back and forth of “I heard this”, “I heard that” between posters. Until he establishes a stamp on this roster and the team, I doubt anyone is changing their view of the man.

And some won’t change it regardless of how he conducts himself in Edmonton or what he accomplishes.

The dude was basically exilled from the league in disgrace. Thats the context and facts. You cherry picking random players anecdotal stories and some weird energy about "cry babies" is your personal shit.

Turning on Gregor for having the balls to say the truth about this shit hire is peak HF Oil. Wow.
I don't recall Gregor being particularly well liked at any point by the majority of Oilers faithful. Also he's been over the top and then some with respect to Babcock to the point it doesn't even like its about Babcock, its like he had a childhood bully and projects his bully onto Babcock and that's why he is so emotionally invested.

If Dach does become a UFA I see the Oilers getting outbid with the amount of cap space out there. GM’s are usually willing to gamble on a former top 5 overall pick.

If he’s willing to come here at a decent cap hit, then sure take a shot. I’d probably re-sign Kapanen if they’re a similar price point though.

There isnt going to be a bidding war for Dach simplh because if injury history

I don't know about Kirby Dach. I watched Montreal in the playoffs and he was often benched and also made some glaring defensive errors as well. Montreal fans on their board were often calling him out in their GDT.. Not good enough to be top6... and not really an effective defensive bottom 6 player who can penalty kill or anything either.

I think we could do better than Dach.

I’m guessing Gregor still loses his lunch money.

I think it’s likely someone gives him 3-4M per on a 2-4 year deal if he goes to UFA status.
