Penalty kill rewards speed and length - these guys lack that. Some make up for it with good sticks and anticipation, but even then, they arent ideal penalty killers. Janmark is a guy you keep because he actually has a scoring touch 5v5 and will use his body. Brown same thing. Nuge is okay for the penalty kill as say the #4/5 forward, but he is also not classic ideal. They should be really working with podkolzin on the pk and some of the guys they bring in should be penalty killer specialists/guys they think they can coach that into. Hockey is a game of inches and size plays a big difference a lot of the time. Marchand or barkov? My point is the guys who handle the brunt of the pp1 are going to have a worse GA / 60 than guys who don’t. Those numbers seem to support that. I think Nuge and Janmark are also good Pkers and they have numbers very similar to Brown.
I can agree his PKing ability may get a bit overrated at times though.
Edit: also, the oilers did awful job making sure there were no tips on the powerplay this year lol
