My point is the guys who handle the brunt of the pp1 are going to have a worse GA / 60 than guys who don’t. Those numbers seem to support that. I think Nuge and Janmark are also good Pkers and they have numbers very similar to Brown.

I can agree his PKing ability may get a bit overrated at times though.
Penalty kill rewards speed and length - these guys lack that. Some make up for it with good sticks and anticipation, but even then, they arent ideal penalty killers. Janmark is a guy you keep because he actually has a scoring touch 5v5 and will use his body. Brown same thing. Nuge is okay for the penalty kill as say the #4/5 forward, but he is also not classic ideal. They should be really working with podkolzin on the pk and some of the guys they bring in should be penalty killer specialists/guys they think they can coach that into. Hockey is a game of inches and size plays a big difference a lot of the time. Marchand or barkov?

Edit: also, the oilers did awful job making sure there were no tips on the powerplay this year lol
Edit 2: sissons

They aren’t always right but why say all this?

For relevance.

Everything they post is just based on mainstream speculation from the real media members and then say things like "We've been hearing" and reference "sources".

There's a fair few accounts that do this, but this one seems to get more attention because they made a podcast.

They don't have sources.

Wonder what that looks like with double retention - would a team want to buy a 3rd round pick for 1.6 million? Is that actually a 4th round?
I would think a 3rd team will need to be involved.

But yea, Gibson is injure prone. But a that this point, I think he may be our best best trade wise.

Demko from Vancouver? doubt Vancouver will trade him to Edmonton.

So keeping skinner and giving both only 40 games is probably best for making sure he can have a run? The oilers are worried about him being healthy enough to win 16 games in the playoffs, not 40 in the regular season.

On a terrible team. Seth Jones left a horrendous team and now look at him. Bob left a terrible team and look at him.
fr ducks fans have said for years now he is the same quality as 2018 but the team is so so bad with how they play defence and give up chances it doesnt look like it lol They were saying it is almost a shame people wont realize how good he is because his numbers will look worse on the ducsk lol like 2020 they said this and still say it. They also said he injures himself not from being injury prone but being ultra competitive - he thinks he can win the cup if he tries hard enough on his own and pushes too hard and hurts himself. They said on a better team he would likely hurt himself far less.

Who in your mind is getting the brunt of the time against pp1? Nuge/Rico and Janny/Brown were the common duos through the season. All minutes roughly equal, with Nuge/Rico getting more d-zone starts shows me they probably spent more time against pp1, yet they have the best #'s. So I'm not sure what you are saying the numbers prove for Brown, as on the surface he looks to have gotten the easier deployment and showed the worst.

Realistically, you'd need quality of competition stats to prove it, as lots can vary from kill to kill depending on clears/stoppages and when the other team switches out their pp1, etc. But I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion you did?
Brown led the forwards in PK time in the playoffs. That leads me to believe he’s the guy.

Your numbers show me Brown, Janmark and Nuge had a very similar GA per 60. Your point that he’s the worst out of that group is valid but imo those 3 having a higher GA per 60 when compared to the rest of the team has more to do with their PK roles rather than their ability to PK.

If that makes sense haha

Ok, I see. Yeah all my numbers are regular season, odd that Brownie ended up with the most toi considering his ailments and issues I believe he had.

One thing I will say, everytime I start looking deeper into defensive #'s and rates, zone starts, linemates and competition, Henrique comes out looking really good. 27 pts +2(+playoffs) doesn't look anything special on its face, but all things considered I don't know how easy it would be to replace it at under 3m. Should have a contract year jump in his step too, so I hope he can stay through the cap crunch.

If you're worried about Gibson being injury prone, then you have to acknowledge that Demko's career is close to being over.

The main reason you can tell these guys are generally full of shit is that they just wrote Connor McDavid's thought process as if he were a character in a third-person omniscient narrative. There's no way these guys have this kind of access to McDavid's thought process lol.
A three year extension makes zero sense.
