That have both Vanacek and Blackwood, so will be interesting how playing time shakes out. Probably will try to move one of those two.
One of them might have health issues lol, so I suspect they'll keep all 3.

So apparently he wasn’t a game time decision for game 7. Too bad for him, but I don’t think a long career is in the cards for him. Too many serious injury issues.
Yeah it does sound bad, if there's still an issue, reminds me of what we heard about klefa before he was just done.

Imagine if they'd used him in playoffs how that might have gone.

Until we hear anything to the contrary from literally any real source, I wouldn't be concerned.

If they are in general agreement on the extension, the term and the dollars - there is no need to rush negotiations and get that signed ASAP - other than to relieve OUR anxiety levels about it lol.

It probably got delayed due to the offer sheet drama. I have zero concern about Draisaitl signing a contract with us.

LOL. Tocchet and his stupid mind games. Yeh sure, Demko could be back by game 6!

Nearly went for 2 1sts. Way too pricey.
32 overall pick and a pick that will probably range from 22-32. Not a bad price to pay for a potential franchise goalie.

Not alot for a franchise goalie, if he becomes that. Big rip off if he doesn’t.

Seravalli speculating potential Oiler UFA right shot market inquiries:
Shattenkirk is a guy I've mentioned before. 15:47 toi on a good playoff team in Boston. Big minute player previously on bad Ducks lottery teams including some versatility at PK. A one and done established NHL veteran with a career of top4 responsibilities is worth inquiring about.
Small and soft or old or all 3, and PP specialists each one to boot. We need guys who can go out 5v5 and not get murdered. We don’t need guys with big names who used to be good.

Both could be true. Look no further than Evander Kane.

Lindstrom is the best bet. We are so old and slow throughout the lineup as it is. This guy, imo ,is better than Ceci, Shatt, and Emberson

I don't understand the Lindstrom hype. Are people looking at anything other than his age? He just came from 3 of the worst defenses in the NHL without being able to establish himself as a regular on any of them.

Please someone explain what this upside is.

The difference between Shattenkirk and Schultz/Barrie, is that Shattenkirk is eligible for a bonus structured contract due to his age.
What is the benefit of being bonus eligible? I hope it isn't to be able to do what we did with Brown and defer a cap hit to next year. That wouldn't work well for us

And I imagine we will be a team right up against the cap after the trade deadline.

SJS slowly turning into a team that might have a future.
Please no more of those kind of structural contracts... especially for a bottom pairing dman at best.
Oilers thought Brown would be in the top 6, that's why they thought it was a good deal on paper.

Hyman is already back in town. Not sure if that's because his wife is expecting their 3rd child soon or not.. but the Hyman family is already back in Edmonton. Wonder if all the boys are going to be coming back early for an early Captains skate like last year

On camp tryouts I'd be fine with either of them. They're likely a filler anyways for the season to get us to the deadline when we can make a bigger upgrade if they got a contract. Puck moving D is high on Oilers list of needs for the 2nd and 3rd pairing.

At league min I'd have no problem bringing any of these guys in since you can bury the cap hit if it doesn't work out and could be call up options later if they don't make the cut. Barrie imo didn't fit the Nashville dump and chase system. He's done just fine in Edmonton's system and can play the 2nd PP. Same goes for Shattenkirk who had a decent year in Boston. I haven't really followed Schultz at all so idk if there's still a player there.

Not my reporting. I see your point though.

They need someone cheap and proven to get them to the trade deadline when they have money to find a quality fit that costs money. At least the concept of Shattenkirk is a consideration playing just under 16 minutes on an elite team in Boston (not a cannon fodder with big minutes,, empty calories situation on lottery teams). Puck poise, decision making, puck distribution are good things for second pairing. Composure guy that might work with Nurse. Could move between 2 RD and 3RD. I can see them playing Emberson given age, waiver risk, and UFA if he doesn't reach a game quota.

Reality with Shattenkirk is an Eastern U.S. fella with history of No Canada so he ain't coming here on a PTO.
