I gotta say, Colorado did some real nice work yesterday (as usual). At first I was a bit miffed about them trading Byram but it makes sense as he was redundant on that roster, has a scary injury history and they traded for Walker where they needed help on the right side so they essentially swap out Byram for Walker and add Mittlestadt while also dumping the RyJo contract. Elite management over there and they're probably not even done yet. They're the most dangerous team in the west IMO.

The team that I'm surprised is doing nothing is the Kings.
The Jets, Canucks, Knights, Oilers and Stars have all made significant moves yet the Kings are just watching everybody load up. They're usually a team that's proactive so I wonder if they're up to something.
Only downside with their roster is that their D is quite small

I still think you work to swing for Parayko.

Ceci
Campbell 50% retained they can buy him out in the summer and it is split cap of just over a million I believe
Broberg
Bourgault
2x 1sts

Idk prob not enough but that is 4 1st equivalents or close to

The Byram trade is interesting. I think Byram is more boom/bust given his injury history. Mittlestadt is just more of a solid player. It will probably work out for the Avalanche. I still think they should of been moving on from Girard though.

Losing Johansen was key with the extra year. I don’t know why they traded for him in the first place though.

They are going to do something else though.

The thing I like about Colorado is that target young guys who are cost controlled.

Chychrun would be ideal for the Avs.

Toews-Makar
Chychrun-Walker
Girard-Manson
I didn’t think of that, but it makes some sense

True.... I guess some of that cap space could be applied to Brown's bonus... so not as much cap space would be tied up next season, Kinda goes against the "All In" philosophy this year though.

Who knows what the team will be like next year at this time... could be major injuries... team could be in a worse position in the standings etc.

Things look pretty good right now... so GO FOR IT.
Agreed.

I just think Holland will justify it that way.

Holland already said he is going to use any cap space he has post deadline to call up players to be with the big club. Bad idea to me as he should use that space to offset some of next years bonuses.

Any thoughts what it would take to spring Carriere out of Nashville or would it be worthwhile to take a run at DeAngelo out of Carolina (both are right hand shots)? TML and others haven’t made their moves yet, so there is a lot of pressure to get deals done. I like what KenH did yesterday, I think it’s great he didn’t give up roster players….yet, but we still can use a defenceman.

Carrier would be great, but don't think a team in playoffs with a 8 game winning streak trades him

Perhaps. They’ve muddled in the middle all season and Trotz has said that that they need to re-tool. Maybe not as dire as other teams but they aren’t built for long deep runs. If they do zilch, they just continue to muddle in the middle. Send them some of the “prospects”.

you want a full roster so you can rest guys down the stretch as needed.

Actually on twitter they said Nashville is listening but also seeing if he can be signed

I want to start by saying some of you might not appreciate what I have to say, but some people do and my last post was literally bang on so I don’t really care what the negative people have to say.

Here is a little update. I need to make clear that I really really like Henrique and Carrick. They are character guys unlike say a “Mantha” who I despise. That said I want more. The Oilers plan A was Tanev and plan B was a top 6 RW. Yesterday morning the Oilers felt like the prices were too high and they settled for Henrique “Plan C” ( A trade they knew was sitting there waiting) Depending how you view an “ALL IN year” Plan C is a ‘Strike out “

This is in fact an “ALL IN” year for the Oilers. The time is now and the organization knows it. The reason? Well some posters on here have nailed it. Ya’ll can figure it out.

Last night the Oilers brass talked and some people are really pushing for a RW upgrade. There are some people in this organization still pushing HARD for Buch. Someone that is really pushing for a RW upgrade is Mcdavid. He wants to win NOW

The RHD upgrade seems to be a non-thing. A number 8/7 will be added. This makes sense because it’s rare to stay completely healthy.

There are RW options available and the Oilers have reached out to at least 1 team regarding significant retention. I don’t have high hopes guys, but this does confirm that they are still looking at PLAN B and haven’t shut it down completely

I can confirm that Holloway’s name has been out there, but teams don’t view him as high as the Oilers do

Will the Oilers go all in to match their rivals? We need to keep in mind if we don’t others only get stronger as we sit on the sidelines. Go Oilers!

- Sorry for my negative “Plan C” posts I was upset and that is how I took it out. I’ll stop.

Hopefully we can somehow manage to upgrade Ceci but he’s looked pretty decent on the 3rd pairing with Kulak.

Desharnais playing top 4 in the playoffs is a bit worrisome. He’s made major strides and been quite good on the 3rd pairing and on the PK but top 4 is a different ball game in the playoffs.

Ceci had an alright game then against Boston was not good, and was at fault for the goal against.

I still think him being upgraded is priority #1
