Sounds like I'm in the minority here but I'm not terrified of Vegas..

Mantha is a significant downgrade from Stone through the rest of the season and Vegas isn't going to see a big improvement until playoffs. The way Edmonton and LA are playing they're trending as a wildcard team and could easily end up playing a team like Dallas in the 1st round and a Colorado/Winnipeg in the 2nd round.

I hope so, but I'm not sure he has it in him. Holland has said 1,000,000 times he believes in continuity and doesn't like change. Henrique resembles a lot of what he did at the deadline in Detroit. I think he's worried about disrupting chemistry, and prefers to tinker around the edges.

Prove me wrong Ken.
In this case I just don't see what cap space we have to get a player that would challenge Ceci for his spot

For the playoffs they do, but they have to be compliant at some point. We don't even know what is going back to CGY
They'll shed cap by trading one of their decent players for some picks. Come next TDL they'll have another 10M to work with so they can trade for the next player that forces their way to the US and only will accept VGK, FLA or TB. Cycle ad infinitum.

Why would the Penguins flip Guentzel for another pending UFA in DeBrusk? They must still think they have a shot at the playoffs? Or DeBrusk will sign an extension within their budget as they refuse a rebuild in Crosby’s remaining years?

Because they play the Oilers this weekend and they want Louie to be able to watch his kid in person one more time this season?

Bettman allowing his pet Vegas team to game the salary cap will be the biggest stain on his legacy. And if it screws the best player in the world from winning a championship, he won't give a shit either.
Edmonton and the rest of Canada are tapped out markets. Southern US markets are ripe for harvesting revenue if they can entice more than 0.1% of the population there to GAF about hockey.

With how Vegas is playing they needed to add these guys just to make the playoffs. They have been quite bad for quite a long time. If these adds don't gel right away they could fall right out of it

The thing with Stone's injury is you can physically test if he's cleared to play with an ultrasound or MRI to see if his spleen has healed. It would be so incredibly easy for the league to have an independent examiner examine him before the end of the season to see if they're circumventing the cap.

Either way this shit is getting embarrassing. At this point they might as well just remove the salary cap altogether from the league and let owners start buying players with 30M+ contracts.

He actually enjoys it. He seems to like being the villain. Anything to screw the Cdn teams, he is onboard with, and if it promotes his pet project teams, all the more better.

Martinez has also been great for them. Mantha and Hanafin might neutralize the losses of Stone and Martinez, but if they end up neutral they'll be a wildcard team.
