Agreed. I hope this just gave the management a rude awakening. Your rivals got Mantha/Hanifin and another one is potentially gonna get Guentzel. You can not stay pat with Henrique, Carrick, and a 7th D and think you're set for a playoff run. A player like Buchnevich is now needed even more.

I suspect the hold up has less to do with state taxes and more to do with Calgary's ask being in the realm of what most team's would consider that they need an extension to make happen.

Vegas is probably looking at it as a pure rental and don't care much about the cost. What do they care if he walks and signs in Tbay next year? Every year is all in year for them.

To me it looks like he turned the corner and has elevated to that next level, Hanifin this year looks head and shoulders above the Hanifin of last year or the year before. Not a player I want to see Vegas get.

They're already having contract extensions in the works with Hanifin.
