I thought if there was a Walker deal maybe a swap of Peterson for Campbell in there too.

Who the hell knows, maybe Flyers seeing if anyone take Johansen for free and then they flip him still.

I mean as bad as Johansen has been he's still some sort of NHL level center so it is a bit odd PHI would just outright waive him.
Would be downright hilarious if somehow the oilers landed Johansen for Campbell and returned to the form he had in CLB

I don't understand... why are the Pens trading Guentzel?

Is this just a big game of chicken between the Pens and Guenzel's agent?
Because the Pens suck and Guentzel probably won't re sign his prime years to a sinking boat.

My opinion:
Getting 75% and 50% retention on 2 forwards to trade for a 7D seems a bit weird.
Being positive with how your current 6D is but then wanting to trade Ceci + the 1st round pick for Tanev days ago.

It just doesn't make sense. Maybe Holland's just keeping his cards close to him.
He got the retention so we could run a full roster till the end of the year. Without it we Couldn’t run a full roster imo.

I sure hope that's the case with this one. It would be very exhausting having to watch 2RHD Ceci defend in the playoffs for a 3rd straight season.
For what it's worth, Desharnais is getting a look, and has done alright.

Until things are settled, I'm not going to worry. This team is damn good either way.

Welp. Here's me wishful hoping we make a bigger splash than acquiring a 7th vet d man and then calling it final. Would give Holland a C grade for his acquisitions.

I'm not 100% convinced DD can handle top four minutes in the playoffs and I'm saying that as an absolute huge fan of him and hoping we re-sign him too.

If he and Ceci (and Kulak) can handle a rotation, the team might be fine in the end.

But he could have also done it to keep his options open. Still got a few days less and maybe he is waiting on prices to drop.

Also the more cap we have at the end of the year; the less Browns we have to pay next year.

The funny thing is for me is that Kulak numbers have dropped ever since Ceci's been with him (lol). Just like how Nurse's numbers has improved after Ceci's been dropped to the 3rd pairing. Yeesh.

Yeah, I'm just chilling until the TDL is officially over. I liked the trade for Henrique and Carrick today. But I still want a 2nd RHD or a top 6 scoring winger to be fully satisfied.
Maybe Brown turns his shit around in the playoffs, lmao. (wishful thinking)

I think they’re looking at how it’s generally easier for a forward to come in and exceed than it is for a dman, so you try and land a big forward in the draft this year while assembling one of the better defenses in the league.
Is it though? I think a better defense generally has a strong top two pairings. The bottom pair means very little to me. If you've got a guy down there who's arguably a guy who should be playing on your top four, it's a waste.

It'll be interesting to see how they roll them when everyone's healthy. But they'd better be sure a couple of those guys thrive playing on their offhand. Because I see a handful of high pedigree guys who've yet to establish themselves.

Honestly think they have figured that into the plans. The less we have to pay Brown next year the better.

I think people need to remember, we just went TOE TO TOE with Boston yesterday, and we came out the winner. We aren't that far away from actually being able to win it all. In a perfect world, it'd be nice to get everyone, but as Holland said already, you gotta be careful who you remove and who you add to a tight core we have now. I'm happy with this trade, and I'm curious to see what else shakes loose.

And this team is deeper today
