Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread: “I’d buy that for a dollar!!!” Edition

I don't know how much was Lowes emotions and how much was the EIG's miserly tendencies.
Fair point.
EIG's inability to step up financially played a big role in Lowes decisions as well.
He was a bit of a hot head as a Manager though.

Lowe should be no.2. People say Vegas goes all in and is aggressive, Lowe took a non-playoff team and made them a game 7 Stanley Cup Finals team by adding 6/7 players in about 7 1/2 months.

Pronger.
Peca.
Spacek.
Samsonov.
Tarnstrom.
Roloson.

Added a no.1 superstar D, a top line winger, another top 4 D, a bottom pairing D, a strong checking center, and a no.1 goalie.

This is what going "all in" actually looks like

Props to Lowe for sure but he was put in a incredible position to succeed. The Blues had to dump Pronger because the league brought in a salary cap. You could say the same about Peca. Peca only contributed 9 goals and 23 points the season he was here.

Spacek played for us for 31 regular games then left.

Samsanov played 19 regular season games then left.

Tarnstrom stuck around for another year (29 games) before going to Columbus.

I think some of the moves he made get a little too much praise just because of how exciting the run was. We also had a decade of darkness start on his watch as well.

Agreed.

But man, I can't say I blame him. I'd be a pissed off hot head if I pulled off some great deals and then had to walk them back because my boss was too much of a skinflint to even fund a reasonable team.

I want Eberle or Toffoli or Carrier

If one of those is added its an A deadline as of nowa B

B is a bit of a strong letter… maybe C++… with a legit upgrade in a key position I agree it’d be somewhere between an A- and an A+++

As far as the forwards go I like Eberle for the story but in terms of helping this team win its Toffoli all day for me.

To get a one game shot at a Stanley Cup ... it was 100% worth it.

People also need to realize Lowe was not GM after July 2008.

Holland has to get us to this moment at bare minimum, otherwise he has no business at a no.2. More is expected when you have two of the best players in the world one of them probably the best in 30+ years to play.

I'd want to see Buchnevich just to see Jack say his name 900 times a night alone.

Man I haven’t looked at that face without wanting to punch it once since the summer of 06.

Holy crap too I forgot we totally destroyed Anaheim, I thought that was a 6 game series, dismantled them in 5 games and were blowing Carolina out of the rink in game 1 until that damn Roloson injury.

What a team that was.
