This will never change under Tippett. Listen to what Keith is saying, basically saying they all need to commit to a patient, slow game, no mistakes.

they should be talking about upping their pressure and trying to overwhelm the other team

Oh I agree, and that's what we saw when Gully took over behind the bench for a few games. The best defence is keeping the puck 200ft from your own net.

But as they can't trust their goaltending, Tippett's answer has be to play as tight defensively as possible and limit the HDSCs.

Problem is every time they've gone into a shell, and allowed an opposition player a chance to pick his spot, even from distance, the puck has still been going in the net.

Who is even available for a higher pick anyway?

It's best that Holland doesn't make any trades, it'll be Chia towards the end of his tenure all over again. Fire the coach, play Skinner more and see what happens. This season is probably cooked anyway so why the hell not?

They are smarter than the rest of the league.

Dont you know that Dominic Hasek was drafted in the 10th round?

Dont you know that Hasek was traded to the Sabres for future considerations?

The advanced stats people are showing that Duncan Keith was terrible and shouldn't have been traded for by any sane person.

The fact that he has been the single most improved player by advanced stats and still looks like a solid #3/4 is scarey. As is his cap hit and trading assets for said player.

The problem isn't that Keith is playing solid hockey or not. It's the over the top price we paid for a player that just should never have been traded for.

Okay, but what matters is he's better, which is what the gamble was.

The price was too high, yes.

If they are truly all in, no expenses should be spared.

Spend assets for a stop gap goalie, 1st and Yamamoto for a legitimate winger for McDavid (maybe 2 if Kane signs but I still don't like that option), dump Kassian on Seattle or Arizona and bring back a 3rd liner that actually gives a f***.

D will likely have to be improved in the offseason as Barrie will need to be moved for room.

Holloway looks like a bonafide NHLer.

I watched the Condors game tonight and he looked much better than anyone else on the ice. Faster, stronger, making hugely confident plays with the puck. He's a driver. I have zero doubts that he could slot in on our third line right now at wing or C.

Question is, do you bring him into this disaster?

If Kane signs, Holloway gets called up ... those two players could pay huge dividends for us from now til the end of the year. That's two top 9 forward holes filled. Huge. Absolutely huge. It's not all over yet ...

Barrie should be on the trade block. Shouldn't have signed him with Bouchard in the mix. Barrie + pick for Soucy and Appleton?

Waiting to get Niemeläinen back a lot. Seems like most have forgotten about him. He'll make us instantly a lot harder team to play against.

Nemo was landing bone crushing hits every game. Showed excellent potential on the defensive side too. The stick check on Debrusk when he had the open net and sending Brown into orbit are plays that come to mind.
