I haven't seen any, I think it's BOS, CGY and a few others, I hope Holland's atleast made a call.
Like someone said earlier, Treliving is a man without a plan. Jumps at any name player who is rumored to be available. He trades picks and prospects continually for guys like Hamomic and Stone then buys them out or let's them walk.

As pissed Iam Holland didn't acquire Hall, Treliving is a disaster (see Peters) and will never GM that group to any success.

The guy I wanted the Oilers to draft at #8 last year... Arthur Kaliyev... was also rumoured to be older than 17 at the draft... so it does seem like a "trend" with some of the Russian players (or in this case Uzbekistan) to have some "cloudiness" surrounding their actual birthdays.

You will get no argument about Treliving from me, I'm curious the position Gudreau puts them in soon

The institutions behind elite sports in Russia are no strangers to cheating. There's a reason Russia has been banned again from the Olympics. Actually these rumors wouldn't surprise me if they were true.

If Oilers go the route of clearing money for Nurse, Russell and maybe even Larsson could be traded. I think trading Russell needs a player of similar cap coming back while a lot of teams are salivating over tough RHD.

So I would do:

Russell for Perrault (retained $125,000)
For Larsson, teams that need a RHD include (and what I would want from each of them):

Anaheim (Kase perhaps, if not picks and prospects work)
Detroit (There's no one on this team that's tradeable that I like, picks and prospects)
Florida (Hoffman maybe? He's making more money but this is his contract year, but maybe picks and prospects on draft day instead)
Minnesota (Kevin Fiala)
Nashville (Jarnkrok? But probably picks and prospects)
Ottawa (Tierney probably but he's been meh this season)
Vancouver (Josh Leivo or just picks and prospects)

I do not understand the hatred guys like Benning and Nurse get on here, they are both solid defenders and are a huge reason why this team has had success this year.

What success are you talking about? We are like 2 points ahead of last year's pace right now, a year where we ended with less than 80 points at the end of the season.

Yeah, it might work, or it migh not :) I have no idea how much Slepy wants to try again in the NHL or how his possible family likes it in Russia. But it'd be interesting to see him in the Oilers again, he might very well be better than some of the current bottom6 players.
I always saw a player in Slepyshev. For whatever reason, he wasn't able to light it up in the NHL or the KHL it appears. I'd be more than happy if he got another shot though.

Nurse turning down 6.82X8 according to stauffer is worrisome. I wonder what they counter with. I don’t think I like going above 7 for Nurse.

They are on pace for ~96 pts right now... so unless you think they are going to fall apart in the 2nd half (which I personally see no reason to think they will)... they'll continue on this pace.. especially with KRussell-Benning reunited which made up one of the most solid bottom pairings in the NHL.

Any rumblings about Oilers going after Kovalchuk?

Yes . Holland wants more competition for water boy duties . He just isn't sure about Kovaloser back holding up . Don't want to be stuck paying a broken water boy $15 an hour to sit in the dressing room .

I really can believe fans want a guy that can't skate . So he can shot the puck , problem is he can not get to the open areas fast enough . Maybe he can replace Coffey and teach the forwards to shoot

Should have signed him to $5.25-$5.5 million x 8 years when they had the chance instead of signing him to that poorly thought out bridge deal.

There's some here who (foolishly) didn't even want to pay Nurse ~$5 million long term... which would have been similar to the Matheson contract from Florida.

Go with less term and lower AAV. Above 7 would be a big problem.

He can leave if he wants a penny over 6 mil long term
Top 4 Dmen who can skate are making 6m easy right now. 7 is basically paying him for what the cap will likely be next year, and be a decent bet long term. Any more is likely a mistake though, and would make me consider moving him for help up front.

Must be terrible to be in a playoff hunt this time of year.
Nurse and Benning must be truly awful to have such an effect.

Yeah I’m fine with a shorter term at lower value. We have enough in the pipeline that 3 years from now Nurse could be on the outside of the top 4 looking in.

I’d prefer to sign him for 8years and move out a prospect for some help up front, but if he prices himself out of a long term deal, a short deal with a lower average with the depth we have on D prospects works too.

Nurse was always a physical, great skating dman... that combo alone would have made his contract very movable even if he never really had much offense in his game (which he has found)... so you were never really going to be stuck with a terrible anchor of a contract even in the $5-5.5 million range.

I hadn’t even noticed nurse is near the same ppg as last year without the PP time. Definitely can see why his ask is more than 7. Hope holland works his magic.

You can see people just hoping and wishing that the Oilers fall hard and drift out of a playoff spot in the 2nd half... I think it really gnaws on many here that the Oilers are fully in the playoff hunt and grinding it out with the other top teams in the West this year. Not saying it's going to be easy because every team they play is looking for wins... but Oilers are right there battling & competing with every other team and if those other teams were that good they'd be much further ahead of the Oilers than they are. 8 Point spread from 1st to 8th in the West and Oilers right there in that chase all season long.

Hell we were ahead of that chase for a long time this season already. As long as our goaltending holds up I can see us making the playoffs this year and winning a round(depending on who we match up against).
