Not sure how you can think it's not a dirty play. Sure, McQuaid was dropping the gloves but Roussel's instinct was to shove his stick into McQuaid's face. Big no-no.

Heat of the moment type of reaction. McQuid kinda ran into Roussel's stick. Good call on the ice and I would leave it at that.

Not defending Roussel's dirty move, but I think McQuaid stretched his leg out to try and make some contact on the hit, and struck Roussel's leg, causing him to spin a bit. Roussel then turns and cross checks McQuaid in the throat out of anger.

So McQuaid's arms going to grab Roussel didn't force his stick high? I think you need to go watch the replay again. Roussel was obviously going chest, McQuaid was obviously trying to grab him by the collar. There is NOWHERE else for the stick to go in this situation thanks to McQuaid.

If by "chest", you mean "face", then yes, he was aiming for his chest.

Dirty play by a dirty player.

Wow, that's bad. It was a "heat of the moment" attack, not pre-meditated, but it was very, VERY nasty. There's no way that's accidental, McQuaid is a tall guy, Roussel has to go way out of his way there to cross check him to the face, going pretty much straight up, you really cannot argue that he was trying to get him in the chest.

An incredibly dirty, incredibly dangerous play. I'd give him 10+ games, though to be fair I'm clearly not on the same page as the NHL re: suspensions (I almost always consider their suspensions too light, and would generally like to see most suspensions be about twice as long as they end up being).

That's horrendous. Garbutt was running around too. Don't mind the Stars but really can't stand those 2 players.

Completely dirty. Was aiming for his throat the entire way. Ejection was warranted, would like to see at least 2 games but won't be surprised if there's none. If he's not on some refs radar, he probably is now.

Looks like McQuAid was getting ready to fight as he dropped the gloves...should be at least 5 mins, that was a dirty crosscheck.

It's defensive. Guy's a foot taller and about to attack him without asking. Have no problem with this, just like I didn't have a problem when Kessel started swinging his stick at Scott, when Scott pulled the same thing.

I'd give Roussel nothing, honestly.

Did you watch the play? McQuaid wasn't 'attacking' him, there was no self-defense involved.

His gloves are off. Roussel gave no indication he would be dropping his.

McQuaid tried to jump a guy half his size and ate a piece of graphite because of it. Bush league move met by bush league move. Seems appropriate, not cause for outrage.

Guy does dirtbag thing to guy attempting to do dirtbag thing. I don't see why the first guy's more of a villain than the second. This is Scott and Kessel verbatim. Tell McQuaid to fight inside his weight class next time he tries to jump someone.

I don't think we watched the same video.
