Does he have a time machine too? Cause I cant remember the last time I correlated flyers hockey with broad street bullies. Ah, well, AuthenticFans will eat it up.

Here's to hoping he's a useful player who doesn't get buried behind useless vet plugs.

I like this type of player, so I’m a fan of this pick. His heat map is good for what this team likes to do- play the perimeter. Forester and Wisdom are both High Danger players. They play most of their time in the Ozone in those spots. We need more of that. I’m happy with him.

Seriously, the Flyers could replace Gritty with the Paw Patrol lineup and line the WFC with crepe streamers, and the NHL universe would still think they were one sideways glance from a bench-clearing brawl.

Fletcher said he was one of the 15 skaters they targeted after the first round. He's not a second round prospect imo, but if they really believed that, then the trade up is OK.

They may not have seen him as a 2nd rd talent so much as the type of player they want on the team for the style of hockey they want to play, especially playoff hockey.

Given the stable of mobile defensemen with good shots they've put together, tough forwards who go to the danger zone, set screen, have a quick release and can pot rebounds are invaluable.

So aside from skin colour, he actually has a similiar game to Simmonds?

Bull on his skates, relentless forchecker, tough as old boots, can hold his own in a scrap and scores all his goals from 5 yards out of the net?

Not saying he has the same 30-30 upside, but Simmonds was a projected third line winger until he broke out at the flyers.

Fair comparison?

Given he's a 4th rd pick, if he turns out to be a solid 3rd line RW who can protect an undersized center, that's a big HIT.
