Gendron is outplaying his draft position by a wide margin.
Doesn't mean he'll ever make the NHL, but at least he has an outside shot - in the 7th rd, that's about the best you can hope.
Anyone taken after the 3rd rd these days is a very long shot, small skilled guys rarely fall deep into the draft anymore. And late bloomers by definition are hard to predict on draft day.
With 30 goals in his pre-draft season, and above average speed at 5'9 176, it's surprising even with his flaws that no one took a flyer on him earlier.
Smaht Scouting's Josh Tessler takes an in-depth look at 2022 NHL Draft prospect Alexis Gendron (RW, Blainville-Boisbriand).

He's a good example how CHL stats can be very team dependent:
He was having a so-so D+1 season, then got traded to a better team and had a great second half:
Blainville 29g 22-12 34 -3
Gatineau 34g 33-14 47 +31; POs 13g 14-5 19 +6
last season wasn't quite ready for the AHL (turned 20 in December).
Yes, he has to improve his playmaking, but as Caufield shows,
score goals and they'll find someone to feed you the puck (first 123 games: 53-26 79).
