Series Talk: Round 2: Leafs vs. Panthers

Guessing the series goes Thursday and Saturday.
If it’s against the Bruins what’s the odds Saturday is an afternoon game?

I doubt it, I'd imagine they'd want us in primetime.

Could also go Wednesday - Friday if they want to get it going sooner, there have been times we have played on a Friday vs. Saturday in the playoffs.

On a side note. I don’t know if being hemmed in our own zone is a great way to play going forward. Did we just see the Leafs win a playoff series using a Randy Carlyle defensive strategy? I found myself yelling the same things I did in 2013.

Anyway, hopefully we straighten it out and win some more faceoffs next round.

Boston has looked human - but that Ullmark brain fart is like a 1% play and if it doesn’t happen we’re already pencilled in to play them.

Give me the team that will need to rely on Montour, Forsling, Gudas, Ekblad, Staal and Mahura to stop a red hot forward group who are probably feeling pretty good about themselves in a barn that Leafs fans will pack.

I imagine the winner of Boston-Florida gets three days off and we get Thursday-Saturday-Monday-Thursday-Saturday-Monday-Wednesday.

Perhaps only if Keefe wishes to bring Holl back into the lineup? Not entirely certain that Gustafsson plays or offers enough to remain in there ahead of even a Lafferty (or ZAR). OTOH, not wanting to mess with a (series!) winning lineup might work in the favour of running with 11/7 for a bit longer.

The Leafs' definitely looked more timid and afraid to make mistakes, having to grind out those wins .. Then again Tampa plays that heavy style that clogs up the zone.

I'm hoping their play was more towards feeling the pressure to win with that monkey on the back.

They won't go much further with this strategy against other teams. They need to dictate the pace and generate more offensive zone time.

Yea, but if it's Florida they actually beat Boston something the Leafs never did. Plus wouldn't that mean they will have a ton of confidence? I don't think they will be easier.

this teams got that Dog in em, and Boston looks to be playing on fumes. Tampa did it 5 years ago, dominated the regular season and then got swept by Columbus.

I think Bostons running out of gas just as other teams are turning on the playoff switch. I think after Tampa got swept by Columbus they realized they needed to save another gear for the playoffs and not waste it through the regular season. Boston is looking like they're falling into that rut at this time of year and the Leafs are just Rolling with their game play it looks like the Leafs still have a lot more in them especially with the pressure off and adrenaline.

I feel if we face Boston and beat them that will be ANOTHER monkey off the franchises back and they can roll all the way to the finals.

Florida will be running off adrenaline taking the best NHL regular season team out in the first round... I'd prefer to avoid that.

Boston will be coming into RD 2 knowing they struggled to get there.

I would prefer the easier road, Florida because neither Bobrovski or Lyon can handle our offence. Bostons forechecking will do serious damage to our D.
Heres hoping for a final four appearance which hasn't happened since 2002.

How about we start not icing the puck so damn much. Never seen so many dumb icings where it’s a bad break out pass, or an mis communication, or a panic move and they just flip it down the ice. Gotta get that stuff fixed. Better break out plays, better entries etc

Based on last season, it looks like the min days off between series was 3.

Have to think Saturday night is a preferred night for a Leafs game. Maybe we don't start until Thursday then?

Probably Thursday. I can’t see them starting the series on Tuesday with the Bruins/Panthers only getting 1 day of rest.

I think you start the series 12-6 and then if you need to win some games, go 11-7 and ride the top players.

a 4th line of Kerfoot - Kampf - ZAR/Lafferty is still nice to have to just take a shift for you.
